Mc4plus size question

I usually like standard grips one extra wrap , I did this without realizing the 4 plus meant lower half of grip was plus 4 wraps lol... now they feel way too big with extra wrap. So should I do just the top of grip with extra wrap or just don’t do any extra wraps?

The purpose of the +4 is to take the taper out of the grip. It shouldn't really increase the size of the grip like say a Midsize grip would. It also depends on what you are using for build up tape. One extra wrap of thin masking tape, you should hardly notice a difference. Two layers of double sided tape, depending on the thickness could definitely increase the size.

 

Probably doesn't answer your question but some of the variables to consider. Sometimes when it comes to grips, you have to do some experimenting. It took me a few tries to get the MCC+4 the way I like them. It's possible the MCC+4 is not the grip for you.

The 4 layers they use as reference is 4 layers of Golf Standard BU tape who adds 0.015 for each layer, and we count 4 layers of this tape from STD to MID, so if we compare MCC +4 with the regular New Decade, MCC +4 is close to New Decade MID size for the lowest hand, but with less taper than New Decade MID size has down there.

 

We can straiten out the taper on any grip by using a asymmetrical build up like this one, where the absolute lowest part (2.25 inch from the tip) of the grip gets 4 layers, then steps of 2.25 where we go 1 layer less for each 2.25"

 

If we start from regular New Decade, we get to a size and taper shape very close to MCC +4

Thanks for the help! I ended up going mc4 plus with 1 extra wrap of double sided tape on top half of grip. Not sure if it really made a difference but I think they turned out perfect for what I wanted. Maybe it’s in my head but I think I achieved the in between standard and mid size I was looking for
