Some swing help needed

Looking for some analysis

I'm looking for some tips on improving my swing. I'd really appreciate if someone could help with some analysis. I have it up on this Swingacademy deal. My name on there is ezra7676 and the rest of my videos are under the "mechanical" help section. Thanks.

Oh, and my short iron striking is pretty good, driver is obviously just trying to hold it together with a fade. You'll see, lol.

I had to register to get it to work right. Then when you get a link, you go to the site and you are logged on. It will work then. Not sure why it is like this...

First thing I notice is that you overswing the driver. It went way past parallel (John Daly like) causing control problems. I remember reading in this forum that you took some lessons. What did your instructor tell you?

 

The other thing I notice, your right leg is too straight on the backswing. Your right knee needs to bend, not straight like that.

He told me to pretend there are branches over my head, stall my hips on the downswing and swing with my arms. After pulling drives dead left for 2 rounds I decided that was not going to work out. I went back to the simple swingthought of "straight back, back to target and straight down the line" . My problem is really just inconsistancy. When I have it together I hit a 3-5 yd. fade just over 270. I'd like to be able to hit a draw at some point and have a lot more consistancy. I played the same long par 5 on Fri. and Mon. Fri I hit a fade that rolled out over 280 and Mon. I hit a duck hook that hit a tree and didn't make the red tees.... I still bogied the 635yd. beast with back to back 3W's and SW though. lol.

 

I really need some advice on like a stop trigger or something. I've been swinging like this since day 1, 5years ago. My buddy is probably tired of me asking "did I go past parallel on that one?". He's like "yeah dude, way past".

Dont' ask me, it just feels natural. Not like I'm all that bad. If you look at the ballflight it's an inside fade, it carries just over 250 and comes back 3-5 yds. I could the whole bucket on that line out of the same setup.

Maybe if you put your golf bag next to your left leg you would know if the club head hit it on your backswing.

Maybe so. Got any realistic tips? I need some sort of trigger to stop or something. It's tough because when I try shorten, I get bad striking so I just go back to this. It works for the fade but it's obviously prone to inconsistancy. Irons are better and ballstriking is getting very good, I've managed to shorten up quite a bit with them.

I don't have any realistic tips.. perhaps the medicus hinged thingie... But if your swing is fluid then the medicus prolly won't help.

 

I bet if you kept your eye on the ball through your backswing you would not go back as far.

I was thinking about trying that Medicus driver. Ironically a customer we moved yesterday had the 5iron. His son was messing with it and I took a few swings. I took a smooth one, no break, faster, no break, then my 202yd. 5iron with a 2yd. draw swing,lol and it I was surprised it didn't break until it bounced off my shoulder blades. I thought it would be useful for containing an OTT and/or cast move but I usually don't get that too much. The odd thing is I can stop the video where I "should" stop and when I come back to the negative side of parallel, I am in that exact postion again. It's really just a useless move I think and I'd be more consistant and generate more lag if I can get rid of it.

 

I've been taking some swings in the house, SW with the swingyde on it and I think left hand "thumbs up" might be the trigger. Like thumb's up, it's good, let's pull now. I'm short of parallel at that point but in reality I'm sure I'll still go back at least to it for a while.

when you grip your club, is your left thumb long (meaning totally extended on the grip w/ whole thumb touching)? If so, take your grip like you normally do w/ thumb long and then proceed to shift it up the grip toward the butt end so that only only your thumb pad touches. This will keep you from cupping your wrist and over extending past parallel. For me I shifted my thumb almost level to my forefinger knuckle.
