DC area golf shops

My wife and I are moving to the DC area (Alexandria, VA to be exact) in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if any of you guys know a good golf shop up there. I'm looking to get some new irons soon and I'd like a place that's a bit more customer friendly than the EW store here in town. Any help would be appreciated and if you want to throw in some good courses in the northern VA area that'd be great too! :tongue:

These are the two big stores closest to you I think. There are a couple small ones here and there.

 

Lots of nice courses around to the south of Alexandria on I-395/95 or out west/ouside the Capital Beltway. Some nicer couses in the area include Stonewall, Maryland National, Whiskey Creek, Westfields. Those are all west of where you will be. I'm not super familiar with the courses south of where you will be. Hope you like the area :tongue:

I would recommend the Golf Tour Trailer. They are good people. I have had good experiences with them. They do a good job of fitting people for clubs and their prices are competitive. I have also seen them do the right thing instead of taking advantage of customers. Example: I was at the store one day when I heard one of the fitters tell a gentleman that his swing was not good enough to be fit properly. The customer was upset at first, however the fitter explained to him that it would be better to come back later when his swing had improved. He did not want to take advantage of the guy just to make a sale. I know of other shops in the area that will put anyone on a launch monitor to make a sale. Their Game Improvement Center in New Baltimore, Va also has an outdoor range. Personally, I prefer to take a club and hit it in real world conditions to confirm what the launch monitor is indicating.

I live in the Baltimore metro area not too far from DC, There is a mammoth golf located in Columbia which is only about 30 - 45 minutes from DC depending on the traffic. Then in the timonium area there is a Baltimore Washington golf, and another Mammoth golf store... I use Baltimore Washington golf because service is outstanding. Ben and bobby are always available to help with anything you would need. As far as courses are concerned. You are about 1 hour to 1.5 hours from bulle rock. beach tree and mountain branch. All great courses and the lpga plays at Bulle rock now. There is a course called Renditions down in davidsonville that is not far from where you are. Here are some links.

Oh I almost forgot... You are not far away from Ocean City Maryland which has a bunch of nice golf courses as well. As does the rest of the Eastern shore of MD
