How do you guys analyze all of these youtube videos

It's very hard to pause at the right time and you can't go frame by frame. Can you download the videos and play them in a swing analysis program?

Steps to downloading Golf Swings

You need

-Internet

-Some type of Media converter, just google and DL one

-V1 or Cswing etc

 

Steps

1)Find the link of the swing video

2)Copy and Paste it to download into keepvid

3)Change the Keepvid download(most likely named get_video.flv) into an avi format using a media converter

4)Rename and watch

Seconded. Download the windows version and download to your hearts content! Expires on 31 March but I would pay for it, it's that good.

Usually with youtube video I just watch over and over dozens of times and then hit pause a bunch of times 'till I get it to stop where I want it. Youtube video is very compressed so the quality is poor. I kind of have a mental checklist of things I look for in a swing as well - posture, ball position, stance width, grip type & strength, clubface at different points, pivot motion, plane, etc. etc.

 

Vixy is a great site and I've used it to download some Hogan video off youtube.

 

If you have the latest version of Realtime, it will now download files directly as well. If you move the cursor to the upper right corner of the youtube videos a pop up will come up asking if you want to download the file.

 

Correction!! It's realtime, not quicktime that will download files from youtube

The saga of my youtube to vixy to V1 conversion attempt.

 

So I'm missing a Codec?

 

I'm running Xp

I downloaded .Net Framework 2. 0 first

Then I donwnloaded Vixy 0.4 29 Jan 08

Then I pasted the url for the ben hogan slow motion swing

Tried to play on V1 home edition V 1.36.02

And I get:

 

"Could not find a suitable codec"

 

I get the same message when I try to play on windows media player as well.

How can I determine which codec I'm missing?

There is a long list at the microsoft download

Or am I missing a bigger piece?

 

A little help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

on windows, you'll need the divx codec or an alternative codec capable of rendering divx encoded videos: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divx

Copy the youtube link, paste into Vixy, convert to avi. Then use moviemaker to cut clip to 4seconds, speed up or slow down as necessary, upload to Swingacademy.

Plaese return to comments about what is your fundamental check list for watching a video clip.

 

I would like to what are typically yhe obivious issues that glare out in a clip of a hack or the thing of beauty in a legendary swing.

While vixy has allowed me to get a video into cSwng it doesn't work well. It is very slow and I can't view it frame by frame easily.

 

Any ideas or tips?
