Hello from Ohio

Hello there. Thought I would introduce myself. I think I had an account here few years ago, but I can't retrieve my password. Oh well.. here we go. 

 

46 years old leftie golfer from Ohio. I've been playing golf for about 20 years. Never really became very good and usually played on some weekends. About 6-7 years ago, I started to be drawn to this game more and more. Past couple years I dedicated myself to get little better. I joined a league for the first time. It was a BLAST! That made me want to get some lessons, so I went to GolfTec. Year later, I took the first place in my league, but that was mostly because of my HC. I did lose in first round of playoffs to a guy who couldn't play all year but all of the sudden turned pro and I had to give him 9 strokes...but whatever...

 

Anyways, I am committed to get as good as I can. This year, my HC started at 21 (due to lessons and changes) and I ended the season at 16. I am continuing with GT where my instructor is working with me on each aspect of my swing. We changed A LOT and I am starting to see better results as I practice more. I just have to stay focused and trust him and the process. Last year, I was making mistake of going to lessons and then watching YouTube and Instagram golf videos on my own. That totally screwed me up. 

 

My gear? Well, I am Titleist fan. AP1 irons , TS3 driver and recently I purchased SC Newport Select putter, which was mostly because I wanted SC more than anything else. First time out with it, I had 46 putts lol..it was horrible. But I am back to my usual 31-34 putts per round with it. Just had to get the feel for it, especially coming from Odyssey EXO 7 which is very forgiving putter. 

 

My lowest score ever was 82 on 18 and 37 on 9 holes. Best putts per round record for me is 27 where my putter was on FIRE. In 2023, I am aiming to shoot in low 80s consistenly. I still had a blow up round in high 90s in 2022 but that was purely because of stupid decisions that I should not make lol

 

Here is before any lessons. This was my swing evaluation and my first time seeing myself on video ..holy crap...

 

Here is as of 2 weeks ago. Little better, but still lots of work to do.

Man, you can see some real improvement in that swing dude. Well done.

 

Hanging around WRX can help improve your game if you are dedicated to getting better. It's done a lot for me.

Thank you! I appreciate it. It's easy to improve from what I looked like before lol...It was funny when I went for the evaluation. The instructor goes: "When I see your stance, I don't see someone who would shoot in 100s (that's what I was shooting then)....your stance is athletic...so whatever you've been doing with that, works...but... after that... everything falls apart" 😂 

 

I am looking forward to pick some things up from here and learn more!
