Tried some metal finishing patina solutions

Sharing my results from testing out a patina solution from an online metal finishing company. I gotta say I am pretty happy with the results. The deep brown ended up being the best, the rustic brown was more chocolate color but it rubbed off when I was rubbing it down afterwards.

started with clean raw steel,

spray with the solution, let it sit, I rotated the putter to prevent pooling,

rinse after a couple minutes,

spray with peroxide salt and vinegar mix, rinse again.
rub down with soft cloth. And blown fry with compressor.

repeated the steps again

finished with a generous rub down of some old bearing oil I had laying around. We shall see how it holds up.

I ended up picking up some patina solution from steelfxpatinas.com to try out on my first refinishing adventure.

I went with the Stainless F/X for an oil spill look on my Anser 2.

Since this is my current gamer, I did not want to go too crazy on the sanding just in case it went south (I have since gotten the putter bug and purchased 3 beaters off Ebay to really experiment with).

I will say I am very impressed with the patina given the lack of prep. Essentially just a coke bath, wire brush, and light sanding from 220 to 2000 grit.

Here are some before/after photos. You'll notice I went for a camo-esque pattern on the face initially, but after a couple days I went for the full face. It's looking extra shiny in the last couple photos from the silicone spray that was just applied.

I have yet to play with it, but I will provide updates on how it holds up!

Edit: Now knowing that I preferred the full-finish look over the spotted, I'm curious how fully dipping the putter in the solution would look instead of the droppers I used. Might have to try it myself, the solution is a bit pricy though... Anyone try this with any sort of chemical patina?
