Upgrade to Quad from GC3/Bushnell

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I got a Bushnell Launch Pro (aka Foresight GC3) last year. I’d really wanted the Quad but the 3 had most of the important ball/club data and I didn’t want to spend basically 3x as much for Quad. Lately I’m kind of wishing I did, mostly because I’d love to have lie angle measured. I’d also like to see peak height on the data (GC3 measures but you have to pull up the chart on the computer, it’s not a post-shot tile like Quad). Also strike location and delivered loft would be nice. But is it truly worth the upgrade? Has anyone else upgraded for similar reason and thought it was worth it?

Hi,

I did upgrade from a BLP to a Quad.  The BLP was unlocked and they gave me a somewhat reasonable trade for the BLP.

Was it worth it?  By far the biggest benefit is the larger space that tracks the ball.  I thought I'd like the additional data points and I do - just not justified by the upgrade price.  But the tracking space wasn't that big an issue on the BLP to begin with.

One thing to consider is that they seem to have many sales (both public and if you get the right rep).  Eventually they have the factory refurbished from trades like mine.

I was happy when they finally let us use GSPRO.

In the end I think I was foolish to upgrade from the BLP.  all these other companies seem to be getting closer and closer to foresight and really want to win your business.  I should have waited 2 more years and bought whatever was best price performance at that time.  But my brain had upgrade fever.  foresight as a company seems shady in their business practices to me.

Not sure this is much help - the only cure for upgrade fever is the upgrade.

BTW - does foresight have an optimizer in some part of the software like trackman and skytrak?  I can't find it if so.  I like the idea behind that.

They also just contacted me to see if upgrade fever was raging as I could upgrade from old Quad to new Quad for only $5,000.  Ouch!

I imagine you can get it for a bit less… and just adding some info here…

The Quad Max adds:

  • New Firmware Features:
    • My Tiles Increased Offering of Available Data Practice Session
    • Capture Speed Training. Use in conjunction with your favorite training aid.
    • Customize data displayed through the Foresight App
  • Ball Apex
  • Ball Decent Angle
  • Club Closure Rate
  • Save an entire session without a tablet or phone.
  • Save up to 5 sessions on a device.
  • Get swing speed data with the use of one fiducial.
  • Weighs 1 pound less after conversion.
  • 2 hours increased battery life.

If you own club head and putting analysis, they will transfer at no charge.

Turnaround time is 10 days from receipt of GCQuad at Foresight Sports.

I currently use the GC3 and agree on your first point about the larger tracking space of the quad.  It gets annoying if you are on a grass range and have to move the unit.  First world problems I guess.  Also, the quad spits out a reading much faster than the GC3 which is nice.   With all that said, you will only know this if you have access to a quad and compare.  Overall, the GC3 serves its purpose very well and we can't afford the upgrade or else I would do it in a heart beat.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it they wanted to upgrade from the blp to gcquad? Also wonder if they would to a upgrade to a pre owned quad.

Quad owner here, I haven’t done much research on the new max but will the new max show the apex, decent etc on the unit itself?

And for the OP, when working on my swing having all the extra club data is nice but it’s not 100% necessary. If money is not a concern I would definitely get it but like I said, not completely necessary.

Yes. For example, my daughter is going to be working on distance wedges, so I set up a MyTiles screen with:

  • carry yardage (a bigger block)
  • vertical launch angle
  • spin rate
  • landing angle (she was hitting some a bit too low and they were landing too shallow)
  • apex height

Thanks! That’s pretty cool, I use mine 99.9% in a sim so not sure the upgrade would be worth it for me but definitely a cool upgrade

Jfyi - I didn’t see this anywhere else but today foresight has a flash sale for gcquad.  Looks like club and putting add ons included for $9,999. Software wise it must just be the fitting app on iOS?  You can add FSX for $3000.

so for 13k it’s pretty loaded.  Usually they throw in extra courses but no mention. Don’t see anything about fsxplay either.   Many people like GoPro - wonder if it would work without FSX?

anyway for anyone on the fence this is cheaper than the upgrade I did from gc3 I think.

supplies limited, today only, etc.
