New Bag

In the market for a new bag. I’m just getting back into golf. I’ve narrowed it down to a Jones Trouper or a Sunday Ryder. I don’t mind walking. But I’m usually riding. I do like the straps on the Jones (reminiscent of the old Ping hoofer bags). But the Sunday golf bag has coupla more pockets and seems a little more versatile. They both run about the same price. I’m just looking for thoughts. Opinions. Answers. Recommendations. What’s everyone got? Has anyone tried/have said bags?

I was mulling over this a few months ago when I was in the market for a new bag. I always had carry bags with the backpack straps, but this time I went with a cart bag. If I want to walk, I'll get a push buggy, but walking is implausible in the Summer here.

So I went with the Sun Mountain C-130 and I love the thing. Good material, and it has the cart straps in the back for extra security. I never liked how the stand bags fit into a cart anyways. I'm sure other bags have those cart straps, but I liked the look of the C130 and the 2022 had a bright orange one... 🙂

 

They tend to have a reasonably broad color pallet for their bags.

I know some have struggled with Jones straps in terms of getting them to fit correctly/comfortably.  At the end of the day, your best bet is to order both, check them out stem to stern and then return the one you like least. Might cost you a few bucks in return costs but at least you'll know for sure you bought the right one.

I have a Jones Utility stand bag and I really like it.  I have plenty of room for what I want to carry along with me.  Some complain that the second strap is hard to get on your shoulder, but I have not experienced that issue.  I used to have mid-sized grips on my clubs and if I was carrying 14 in the Jones I did get some binding of grips.  I generally carry fewer clubs now and went back to standard grips so I don't have that issue now.

 

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the Sunday bags.  They look appealing so I will be interested to hear what others have to say.
