Hitting the ball high vs low: technique?

My coach and I were working on left to right and right to left swings yesterday. My natural swing path when playing well is a slight high fade with a release that feels like I am keeping the club slightly open at impact. To build more fade, I open my stance a bit. To hit the ball straight, I operate with a slightly closed stance, and to get a draw, even more closed stance, based on what worked for us during the lesson. 

 

The reason I need to think of the club open at impact is that I tend to get too quick with my hands and can miss badly with a hard hook if I don't keep my sternum rotating with my hands. My biggest path to improvement over the past few weeks has been the elimination of the snap hook; I've dropped an average of 4 strokes/round in that time and dropped my cap from a 6.2 to 4.8. I'm very happy playing a very slight workable fade much of the time; it also comes out as slightly longer in carry off the tee, if not total length. 

 

I would like to work on higher vs lower balls as well: how do I control that? Front of stance vs back of stance? Any other modifications? I often play a back of stance, low-loft wedge (50 or 54) when I have 75-120 to the green and want higher spin; are techniques the same? On that shot, I am purposely adding a bit of shaft lean and throwing darts instead of hitting the big lofty wedge.

keep it simple, that is what Tiger was taught by his Dad and continues to this day. For low play ball position slightly back and stop arms chest high in the release. High ball is only slightly forward and finish with hands high over head.

Really simple way for lower flight is swing easier  and harder for higher

 

Outside that, you gotta start thinking about the spin that's generated as a result. You want the high flosted or high as spinner or low runner or low checker?
