Iron Length Question- Impact on swing dynamics

Mods- I am going to post this in the club building forum as well because I think the question will have two different answers given the context of the question. If this is not allowed please feel free to move to the best forum. 

 

I am a front post player and over the last couple of weeks I have played a set of irons + 1 inch. The added length has been an adjustment, but as I have played them I seem to like the posture a little of and feel like it is easier to move to the left ( trying to hit a fade). The challenge came this week when I was fit for the new Titleist T irons and the fitter suggested that I play the irons at + 1/2 over and 2* up instead.

Question: If I like the feel of the additional length of + 1, should I just grip down or continue to play the irons at +1/2 ? If I do that, what impacts do you think it will have on swing dynamics? Lower because I am gripping down?  Just curious what the instructors think about this? I will also post this in the club builders section as well because I think from a club building  perspective it may offer a different result.

Gripping down will stiffen the shaft a tad. Probably not enough to really notice. Its something you would have to get used to doing though as naturally you want to grip the club at the end. 

 

PS I hate the upright thing. Unless you tend to push/block the ball, i hate upright clubs. That lie board thing is a lie most of the time unless you're  an extreme toe/heel digger
