Applying body mass?

Is this a thing? So, if force equals mass times acceleration, as we get older and slower and fatter, is somehow applying our increasing body mass to our ever slowing swing speed our best hope for breaking even? 

 

I've been casually musing about this for a while, and usually just blow it off, but the other day, I caught an old David Lee (Gravity Golf) video in which he touched on the very subject. He said whichever body parts are rotating in the same direction of the swing, the mass of those body parts is applied to the swing. It seems reasonable, but I don't really know physics, so I have no idea.

 

Another couple of videos along the same lines were a couple that suggested that swinging slower produced more distance. Beginning to fall victim to confirmation bias, I started wondering if swinging at a slower speed would allow some golfers to maintain the application of their body mass in the swing to a greater degree.

Problem with the body mass thing is that you're not hitting the ball with your stomach or your arms. You're using the the club head.

 

Maintaining your strength and flexibility is they way to sustain or improve your swing speed, not just stacking the L-B's.

 

Swinging slower, or more accurately smoother, translates into higher club speed because there is less wasted movement and your sequencing is better. Trying to swing faster/harder puts you into positions where it might feel powerful but makes it impossible to generate speed without making a lot of extra manipulation just to hit the ball.

Yes, but you’re using it wrong.

 

As you get bigger it requires more force to accelerate at the same rate.

Maybe tee boxes should be on a slight decline, then.
