Flightscope X3 issues with FS golf app

I ended up purchasing a used Flightscope X3 and absolutely love it. I’ve only had a chance to use it indoors since there’s been snow here in Meridian but it’s finally gone. I got out today with the Flightscope but had a horrible time getting it to work properly. 

 

When I went outside to use it for a practice session with my iPad Pro and using the FS Golf app I found it having issues being slow to self level, stay connected and even read any shots. I managed to mess with it enough to get it connected, leveled and ready / armed but when I hit the shot it only read the ball speed and a few other parameters but no carry distance or anything. I made sure it was in outdoor setting as well.
 

I restarted everything, turning everything off and on again and making sure all the apps were closed in the background on my iPad. I owned a mevo+ for a short time since it was doing the exact same thing outdoors on both my phone and iPad… slow to connect (even though the FS WiFi was connected), would randomly disconnect and would take forever to show any change to the level even though I was doing it manually with the mevo+.

Again, I did the same thing connecting to the Flightscope X3 as I did at home in the garage which worked seamlessly: Turned the Flightscope X3 on, released the kickstand in the back fully so it would self level (which it always does), turned my iPad on and connected the iPad to the FS WiFi (the iPad is connected to the home WiFi before this but turns that to the FS WiFi when I connect it). Setup to hit indoors only with the target lined up and hitting area in the correct location, figure out the weather to choose and then start the full swing session.. connects right away with no lag or issues and says ready very quickly… outside it takes nearly 10 minutes to get it setup and it still doesn’t say ready for another 5 minutes of fiddling between the level and other stuff. 

 

 

Now I’m afraid I’m in the same situation with the X3 and it’s such an amazing unit but cannot get it to function properly with the FS app outside. Any help with be awesome as I’m preparing for the golf season and looking to get dialed for early tournaments.

What % is your battery at?  Mine sometimes has disconnects around 62% and 51%

Had another member on here help me out and figured out what it was. I use an iPad Pro with the flightscope x3. My iPhone was causing the issues by trying to connect to the mobile hotspot. Although I had mobile hotspot turned off, I guess there’s a setting on my iPhone that says if you have another device under the same Apple ID and you do not have WiFi with that device than it will still try and connect to the iPhone’s 5G (or whatever coverage you have). Ultimately it was competing WiFi connections and it was causing it to connect and disconnect. I went under my setting in my iPhone under the mobile hotspot and turned off the “auto connect if there’s no WiFi” option. Fixed everything.
