Went to Range & my swing path trainer plus Golf Digests best tip ever!

Well last week we went to the range @ lunch, and there was this guy that brought this contraption that is hyped up by Hank Haney I guess. My buddy dave showed me how some college guy used 10 or 8 balls for something similar. Well, i took a 3 & 4 iron layed them down parallel to each other and started hitting balls for about 1/3 of a bucket and was blown away by how well I hit the ball.

 

Today, I had 2 wood dowels from the Depot, and I hit about 3/4 of a bucket like this.. and MAN I really haven't hit the ball this well in a long time! My buddies broke my stones about it, till they started to watch me hit the ball (5iron 3wd driver and pw) I was hitting the POOH! out of the ball! Well, I then took the dowels away and hit the last 1/4 of the balls, and again I was stroking the ball!!!!!! HOly Crap!

 

That, plus well i got the new Golf digest in the mail the other day and I read the fold out on Freddie, one of my fav's and he said something that REALLY rang true with me. That if you take the club away fast you loose speed at the ball, if you start towards the ball too fast you'll loose speed through the ball, but if you take a relaxed grip with relaxed arms and you start slower you'll max your speed out through the ball!!!! man how true was that! I was killing the ball today! I mean it was 50degrees, the balls were cold and I was putting balls in to the far net over 260yds awy! just awesome!

 

I just hope to keep it up and keep improving and finally get to the 70's!

It is amazing how when you just read or hear something and it makes so much sense and things just fall into place.

It's in this month's golf digest, it is Freddie couples and his driver sequence in the fold out. He talks about loose grip, and how he doesn't take club away fast or start fast but how he accelerates through the ball. I used it and the SiD Home depot swing path wood dowles and man what a huge difference in my drives. I've been struggling with the driver and these few things helped me out big time. I was killing the ball.. my buddies were like WTF did you do? With my immediate group I usually play to the best score and lowest handycap (14 or so) not that I'm great, but my goals to play in the 70's and I'm the closest to doing it.

Anyways, I hope to play thursday and hope to hit the range a few times before thursday just to make sure I'm dialing my swing in. If I do, I think I'll achieve my goal of hitting the 70's that's if I can stay consistent with the putter. I played in January on a freak 70 degree day and shot 89 with like 3 or 4 3 putts, not to mention I missed 3 birdie putts and almost chipped in for eagle but ended up with par.

 

Anyways, check out the freddie fold out and read what he says, it makes alot of sense and is easy.
