Why do I hang back?

Anyone have drills to solve this hanging back issue? The results are usually a fade/slice.

Your upper body hangs back because your shift is very late and you're sliding your lower body as a result, which puts the club too far behind you before impact. Shift at before the end of the backswing with both upper and lower body. You won't lunge because your upper body is set back behind the ball.

@unskinnybop99 Following up on your DM, i'm seeing a mismatch between how you're trying to hit the ball and what you're setup for and the instinctual compensations that result in the "hang back".

Three things to note about the above comparison with Xander, who similarly really tries to launch the ball like it appears you're trying to:

1) Ball position. Yours is definitely too far back for how much you're trying to hit up on the ball. This is roughly where Zalatoris played his ball which required the excessive right side bend to stay behind it that mangled his back. Note Xander's ball position in line with the inside of his left heel, whereas yours is two balls back of that.
1.5) Hand/arm position. This is only "1.5" because it's directly related to the ball position. Your hands and arms are coming right down the center of your body, whereas with any pro hitting up on the ball with the driver will see them further forward like Xander here, more over the inside of the front leg.
2) Shoulder tilt. At address you have less shoulder tilt than Xander for trying to hit even more up on it, ideally however this tilt would naturally increase with the changes in 1 and 1.5 above.

Because of these mismatches in setup vs. intent you seem to instinctively load REALLY far back into your trail leg like @Scottbox mentioned because you know you need to work extra hard to get back there to hit up on the ball because of the setup issues. With your current address position you could keep everything exactly where it is and simply scoot your feet 4-6" back (away from the target) and let your hands/arms naturally move to sitting more over your front leg. From there you can do what @Scottbox said above re: getting your weight back to your front leg earlier in transition because you'll have the room to do so.
