I want my fades back

I've taken several lessons over the past year, lots of practice. Striking the ball better, more consistant swing and lower scores. So what's the problem? I can't hit anything but slight draws and big draws, can't fade the ball anymore. Any suggestions? I used to just aim at the target, open up to the target, swing on my bodyline and it would start on my bodyline and fade to the target. Now when I do that it starts at the target and draws to my bodyline.

Once you start working on moving the ball left it's really hard to working it back to the right...but after some time you'll get it moving right or left at will!

How have you learnt to draw the ball? have you been taught to swing the club from in to out mainly to out field right?

I tell you, its tough once you start to come from the inside! I've been working the past couple months on coming from the inside to straighten out my driver, and especially my fairway woods. it seems that when I'm playing a round, I start with a fade, then I slowly get into a groove, then by 13 or 14 all I can hit are snap hooks!

 

you can see why vijay works so hard to hit his fade. he really comes from the inside. . .hence his insane driver setup, 6* open. I'd slice that into the next state. Forget hitting a fairway, I wouldn't be able to hit the driving range!

I haven't really learned it at all, just started hitting draws and didn't really notice the change was so gradual. I definitely don't have any thoughts of "swinging to right field" or anything. I do hit balls left handed, take a practice swing with left only, then a swing with only 3fingers of my right on the club before every shot. I don't feel my right hand in the swing at all.

I've been going back and forth on this myself, but I think I have my fades and draws sorted out now. When I know I need to hit a fade, I step back about 5 yards behind the ball and pick an intermediate targe about 1 to 2 yards in front of the ball, the take my stance astride the ball - not really open, just square. I address it about two inches further up than normal and make more of a sweeping swing making sure to come through the direct back of the ball right at the intermediate target - like there was a line connecting the two parallel to your stance. This works because it may seem like a straight shot, but it is really slightly outside in, just slightly. In addition, it forces you to keep the face from closing and I have no doubt you will hit a high cut fade. This shot loses about 10 yards, so take an extra club from what you normally hit and be very careful in the wind with this. There may be more effective fades that go a bit farther, but this one for me is foolproof.

Tiger Woods also has a draw like you and these are his steps to hit a fade:

-Play the ball one ball up in your stance.

-Stand slightly closer to the ball.

-Line up left, depending on how much you want to fade.

-Swing along your feet.

I'm in the same situation, used to hit a cut as my main shot, but was coming OTT so i went through some swing changes all winter and now i can only hit a draw. Its not that bad, but sometimes it turns into a hook, and i really like hitting a little cut to a pin on the right
