Srixon z785 4-PW set, great for tall guys

I’m 6’5” and prefer the short irons to be longer so I can stand comfortably. Set is what I would call a poor man’s MOI matched set. 

If you are not familiar with MOI matching, it’s basically a progressive swingweight so each club feels like it requires the same amount of “effort” to swing. This is how I build all my overlength sets , and much prefer it

 

Yes, I have ported the short irons to remove a few grams, so the short irons are not absolute sledgehammer 

Set is built with 3/8” length increments and 5-6 grams between each club instead of 7-8 grams due to 3/8” increment build. 3/8” build is key with short irons that are 1” - 1.5” over standard so you don’t end up with a 4i that is 40”+ long

Porting has no effect on feel, these are still the buttery soft feel you’d expect from Srixon forgings 

 

Actual playing lengths (measured at lie angle of that particular club) and lofts below, measured last night. Set is 1° upright

 

Shafts are Tour Issue Dynamic Gold 120g, x100 flex. Grips are midsize Lamkin Sonar. 

 

PW - 37” , 45° 

9i - 37-3/8” , 40°

8i - 37-6/8”, 36°

7i - 38-1/8”, 32°

6i - 38-4/8”, 28°

5i - 38-7/8”, 25°

4i - 39-2/8”, 22°

Second item is a Srixon ZX5 LS 9.5° head and headcover. It is used , but not abused , priced accordingly. Super cheap low spin option. I will throw in an adapter as well

Very interesting irons.  How would you say these perform relative to a set that is, say, 3/4" over throughout the whole set?

I'm curious too. I've been considering going std +1 to about 7 iron and then backing off and using club lofts/tech to help with distance. Like say T150 7i at 38", T200 6i at 38.25", T200 5i at 38.5", and U505 4i std. Something along those lines or even just make them all 38" and leave the U505 std.

I’m 6/3 and usually like +.5 - 1” and 1* up.

But never thought about matching this way.

Would you want D3 throughout the set?

the short irons need the most porting becuase those heads weigh the most and are the most overlength clubs of the set. The PW is +1.5” from standard and the 4i is only +1/2”

 

With MOI matching , you usually build the set based of what length and weight works the best. Usually you start with the 7i or 8i and determine length and weight steps up and down from there

The distances and yardage gaps are similar to a standard set of done right. The advantage is just for a tall player to have a more comfortable posture with short irons. I hit the PW in this set 145 , and 13-14 yard gaps moving up thru the rest of the set 

 

I look and feel absolutely rediculous with a 35.5” PW in my hands 😂
