TaylorMade Burner

The TaylorMade Burner Golf Balls feature fast, long and soft performance for every type of player who wants more distance, a 360 High-Lift dimple configuration to promote a higher launch angle and longer carry, an energetic core that boosts ball speed while retaining soft compression and, it's so amazingly soft it feels and sounds like a balata-covered ball.

DON'T SLEEP ON THE BURNER! They're not to be overlooked! Try them!

I tried a sleeve of them side-by-side with 2 of my favorite mid-priced balls (Nike Ignite-old version, and Burner TP) and have been shocked by my findings. I'll allow that for every golfer there's obviously equipment suited to their game and thus the Burner might fit my feeble skills (I shoot mid-80's)... That said, I think this is the hidden gem of the 2008 class!

I was consistently long on my yardages. It is seriously LONG. Unlike so many others out there in the 2-piece distance world, it actually is soft. They say it's the ball that will feel closest to Balata on the market. I can't say that's true for sure, but it's soft and feels awesome! It still clicks nicely off the putter face allowing for good feedback, yet it's soft and not jumpy like a lot of the balls in the category.

The spin numbers in the Golf Mag. ball issue were all the more helpful...especially for those who worry you can't spin it...

It spins 5% less than Callaway Tour ix...9% less than Tour i and Titleist NXT Tour!

You'll love them. They're the longest "good ball" out there! (or) They're the soft and spinny-est "cheap ball" out there.

They could cure you of ANY "favorite" ball you have...except perhaps the lowest handicappers who play Urethane covers...and they will save you $. They beat Nike Ignite on spin, and Burner TP on distance. The spin #'s are comparable between the Burner balls, but TP definitely has a little more.

e6+, NXT Extreme & Tour, Ignite, Trispeed, HX Hot, should all lose customers to the Burner. Burner performs better and costs less. I swear! The sub-$20 ball market has a new king. AD333, Soft Feel, PD, Pinnacle Platinum, Juice, Zip, etc. (the same-priced balls as the Burner)...are ALL playing catch-up now.

Try 'em!

I totally agree with "Large" David. These balls are the longest balls I've played with. Compared to the Pro-V1x, I might have added 10 yards on my drive. If you want more distance, I think it is the way to go!

In terms of softness, they definitely don't compare to the Pro-V1 and even to balls like the NXT-Tour or the Dt-Solo. This ball has one objective: land far from where you are!

Played a couple of courses in Tampa on a golf trip recently and one of the courses that we played was giving away sleeves of these balls with your paid green fee. i threw them in the cart thinking, "If they're GIVING them away they can't be that good." Well, a few holes into our round I noticed them in the cart and thought, "What the heck!" Boy was I surprised! I haven't felt a ball that good since the last time I played a balata ball, which has been SEVERAL years. One of the best feeling balls that I've ever played on full shots. It's not quite so soft on half shots and pitches, but it's still softer than a ProV1, B330, B330S, Srizon etc....on full shots. Definitely worth a try!

I picked these balls up at Stein Mart for a "buy one dozen, get the other dozen 1/2 off."

I thought that these would be my "season opener" balls that I could just throw around the golf course and not care if I lost...I was wrong.

This might be the best ball out there for my game. It's as soft as Vannessa Videl's you-know-what, drops and stops, and is LONG. I cleaned out my Stein Mart's supply of these balls. They are that good.

I have a dozen of the 09 ProV1 that probably won't see the light of day for a while now. They ARE that good. For real.

Damn...I shouldn't have written this review. Folks will now know my secret weapon!

Put me down as a convert. I have been playing the TP red for about a year. Tried the TP Burner last year but not the regular burner. I bought a box because of the great reviews I have read about on this forum and other forums and they have been running the 2 for $35 promotion. Plenty long off the tee box and a wonderful soft feel with all clubs. I know the "soft" feel isn't for everybody but I like that attribute in a ball. The ball has plenty of spin off full shots and partial shots and the cover holds up very well. The only remote criticism I can come up with is that it doesn't spin quite as much as the TP red on partial shots but unless you are a fantastic short game player that has wonderful distance control, whether the ball stops in one spot or releases a few more feet isn't going to impact your overall score.
