I used to go with a buddy of mine to saddlebrook every year (his boss had a condo there)....we were on a budget so we only played saddlebrook once - thought it was pretty nice. But, the reason that I am responding is because you listed Lake Bernadette...we loved this course. It was in decent shape but very inexpensive and you had the entire course to yourself (and could pretty much play until you were too hot and/or tired)....but, this was 15 years ago. So, I'm sure that this doesn't help you at all but I couldn't help responding because of the fond memories of good ole Lake Bernadette.

Thanks,

Randy

I've played the majority of them and unfortunately courses here are generally in pretty bad shape this time of year.

old memorial, - Unless you know someone you're not going to get to play here. And if you do know someone then PLEASE TAKE ME! ;)

misty creek , - I like the layout and it's usually in good shape but it's private as well.

, pelicania, - I've never heard of this course.

Saddlebrook - I live 5 minutes from here but I've never played the course. It's fairly expensive and word of mouth in the area rates it as average at best. Some people like it and others seem to hate it.

Lexington Oaks - Inexpensive course in decent shape but to me this course was jammed into a development where houses were the priority. Some of the holes are short and gimmicky.

Lake Bernadette - I haven't played here but I've heard good things for a cheaper course.

Hunters Green - Again a private course. Just played it last week and the greens were super and the layout is great.

Plantation Palms - This course is okay to good. Last time I played it the greens were in bad shape but recently a bunch of friends played it and they said the greens are back and the course was good. I think it's a good layout but I think it's overpriced compared to similar courses.

Tampa Palms - Another private course with high greens fees and just a marginal course.

Heritage Isles - Really fallen apart over the last year. Brown fairways and horrible greens.

Cheval - Under new management and in sad shape right now.

Heritage Harbour - See Lexington Oaks above. Not much different.

As stated already, play World Woods. They have 2 courses and they are both good. Look at TPC Tampa which I love the layout but it's not cheap. You can also look at Lake Jovita and Innisbrook. Innisbrook has 4 courses with Copperhead being by far the best but it's not always possible to play there unless you're staying in the resort and it will be expensive. It really boils down to what you want to spend. Fox Hollow is another good course to play.

Well Copperhead at Innisbrook is by far the most challenging in my opinion but for the same price you could play World Woods 5 or 6 times. Of the others we've discussed I would say Pine Barrens at World Woods is as challenging as any of them. The nice thing about World Woods is that it's a very tough course but you probably won't lose a ball. Water only comes into play on 2 holes that I can think of. This is opposite of almost every other course you could play here. Many other Florida courses have thick tree lines and underbrush lining every fairway but World Woods only has the thick trees with pine straw underneath. The tees are fairly wide open as well. It's the greens that make Pine Barrens tough.
