wow....what a sweet course. aesthetically pleasing to the eye. not one hole i didn't like. i played from the championship tees of 7150. not a very long course because of "the ball travels further in the mountains effect?" .....i didn't know what it was but i was hitting 10 yards further with all my irons than usual. its not that tough of a course cause it has big fairways with big greens. this is my second favorite course in washington state now....right below Chambers Bay. price is little excessive given the location of this place. i payed twilight rate of $70 beans on a weekend which started at 3pm. ($130 at prime time weekend.) i don't know where they get their customers from. definitely worth $70 if it were prime time.

How long as it been there?

 

I lived in Eastern Washington for a time and don't remember hearing about it at all.

The Prospector course has been open for at least 3 years (I played it the first year it opened but can't remember if it was 3 or 4 years ago). The second public course (Rope Rider)is due to open next spring and is intended to feature a more "family" friendly layout than the Prospector course (youth tees, wider fairways, less bunkerage, fewer triple break greens).

 

Prospector is a terrific course but can play extremely challenging-being in the mountains you can get some major winds in the afternoon. Played it as part of our traditional Memorial weekend golf tour-greens were in pretty good shape but still showed some signs of winter kill. Fairways were still quite wet-we were held to the cart paths only (never had that happen before).

 

The facility is also terrific-most of the amenities are now in place. Check it out.

Just came back from Suncadia after playing 2 rounds on Friday and 1 round on Saturday (whites twice and blues once). The course is in very good shape. The greens are extremely hard and slower than you'd expect. They are rolling very true though which is great. On my previous 10 visits, the wind was howling and number 10 was just funny (for those of you who have played there in the wind). This past weekend, the weather was ideal. 93-95 degrees and only a slight breeze (about 5 mph). Absolutely the best visit I've had there in a long time. But yes, the $130 price tag is a little steep to go back every weekend, but there were 20 of us so we got a little price break.

What are current course conditions and green fees at Suncadia?

( in other words, has the poor economy since 2008 helped or hurt the golf and the golfers at Suncadia?)

They are running a special ... Unlimited golf for all paying adults. Sunday-Thursday stays for Sunday-Friday play only. 2 people and a room for $415 (incl. taxes & resort fee)

I played both Suncadia Prospector and Rope Rider last week (monday). Prices were about $80 for each. Suncadia was a tad wet but still in good condition overall. No question Prospector is seriously better and stronger than Rope Rider. Rope Rider is a nice "fun" track. Not super tough but interesting and very very playable.
