How do I bend my club to make 1 degree stronger

What does one need to do to bend the loft of a club down a degree?

I have a 56* Spin Milled that I think I would like to bend down to 55*.

Right now my wedges go:
PW: 45
GW: 50
SW: 56
LW: 60

I mostly want to do it because I am slightly OCD and like consistent gaps in my clubs. I am no sure that I will notice any difference in distance or how the club plays.

Is it is as simple as placing in a vice and bending?

What is a simple and effective way of measuring the new loft?

I just feel that for one club one degree why bother paying someone if I could do it myself…basically guys I am just looking for "Club Bending 101"

Don't think of it as paying someone to bend it 1°, think of it as paying someone to bend it 1° and not screw up your club.

 

Unless you have a bending machine and bar, it is difficult to bend without leaving a lot of marks on the head. And if you have never bent anything before, you have no feel for the amount of movement to get pretty close to 1°. You also don't have to tools to measure to see exactly what you did bend it to.

 

With OEM tolerances, unless you have had your clubs professionally checked, your 56° could be 55° already (it could be 56° or even 57° too.)

Seriously, you'll need a loft and lie machine to do the job and to confirm the specs afterwards.

 

Any competent pro can do it, and will charge about $5 for the trouble.
