Trackman vs. FlightScope

I am interested in the functional differences between the Trackman and the FlightScope. They both use the phased array technology and are able to track the ball during the flight. They both seem to provide the same basic functional information. It appears the Trackman has much better software....but there MUST be something else given the massive price difference. I did a search but didn't really find an answer to this.

The earlier versions of the Flight Scope only tracked the first yards and calculated the rest of the flight path from those numbers, whereas the trackman follows the whole flight and only extrapolates when the signal is lost (e.g. you step in front of the radar box or the ball is below its horizon).

Actually from what i was told, the trackman will only track the entire flight if you buy the 'expensive' version. the cheaper version is similar to flightscope that it only does the partial flight

But what about the new Flightscope Kudo? As far as I can tell, it tracks the ball flight in it's intirety as well. It's a phased array system, and it also shows you the ball flight in 3D. Does this make it as good as a trackman?

I can't speak to earlier Flightscope versions, but the Kudu and Prime models track the flight of the ball like Trackman does. As mentioned earlier, they both use the same 3D Doppler radar - it was actually Flightscope to be the first to use it. Although both systems use the phased array to track the ball's flight, neither will use all the data collected.

To date, the biggest difference between the two is their software. Trackman has much more extensive software in the club delivery area. They are both excellent for fittings and distance gapping, but the Trackman really shines with it's club delivery data for teaching. Flightscope is releasing it's latest software upgrade after the PGA show which is supposed to offer the club delivery data that Trackman currently offers.

There is also a substantial price difference between the two - in the neighborhood of $20K+.

i'm excited about the new software from flightscope which will even the playing field.
there's no way the trackman is worth 20k more. the technology just isn't there. they have more exposure and better looking software, that's about it.
do you know if the software is free to existing users? i'd hate to have to shell out for software for personal use.

If the software has in what they are saying, it should make the playing field very even - oh, except for the $20k and their monthly fees

The software upgrades are included. You should be getting an e-mail with the new downloadable version once it's released.

Just got flightscope "proposals"...Hefty annual dues for service and software updates.

yeah i got an email about the proposed prices for the software upgrades from flightscope.
i'm not happy about it and i think the price is too high relative to the price of the Kudu.
600 annually for unlimited upgrades annually or 400 per software update.

i'm not willing to shell out 400 for what i think isn't a very major update.
