I have both and believe they are the same except.

1. The sections on the bottom of the club that "seem" to deliniate the perimeter weight areas are bigger on the 08 model. I cannot tell if these are cosmetic or not.

2. Different shafts. I think the VS Proto shafts are overall stiffer than the HL's. When I bought my 5 hybrid I wanted an HL-S to match my set but couldn't find one. I bought a R shaft and am finding that it is playing fine. I was worried about hooking it because it was an R but it is straight as an arrow and plays very close to the HL in stiff.

It could be a product of the 5 shaft being so much shorter, I don't know.

I do know that I hit the 5 hybrid three times this morning on the course. It was dead perfect between 190 and 200 yards.

Anyhow, I think they work virtually the same. If you can save money on 07's then buy them.

I have recently added the '08 20* to my bag, replaced an '06 Baffler 26* with an '08 26*, and still gaming the '07 23*. If that makes any sense at all. I am looking to update my 23* to the '08 model.

I have played the '07 DWS and am now playing two '08 DWS. I cannot tell a whole lot of difference. As mentioned, I think the big difference is the shaft. I really like the VS Protos in them. Very good shaft to handle. I play stiffs. They setup virtually the same. I have noticed that possibly the '08 faces seem just a little hotter. On several shots with them, I have thought that the ball jumped a little more. Now, this could just be me telling myself this as I doubt there is much difference, but that was the impression that I got.

Overall, I love the Baffler line. Great hybrids that are easy to hit and launch high. So if you are looking to save a little money, go for the '07 as you will probably notice very little difference.

The face seems flatter to me on the 08s. Seemed more forgiving. I went from the 3/R and 4/R 07s to 08s because of this. I didn't slice as much once I got the 08s so I would say its more than cosmetic. I prefer the steel shafts, although I had a graphite 07 4/R.

I think it's more than the shaft. The head shape is ever-so slightly different.

Now I am pretty consistent with hitting it straight or with a slight draw. My swing has improved but I believe without a doubt that the 08 helped me vs the 07s I had.
