A Very Busy Week of Women's Golf - Leblanc, Vandermade, Dreher, Lecuyer..and more

With the CN Canadian Women's Open LPGA event looming just a month away I know that my week of August 11-17th will be filled with coverage of women's golf but it may pale in comparison to the last week.

 

Since last Tuesday I have covered the final rounds of the Quebec Women's Amateur Championship, where National Team Member and incoming Purdue Sophomore Maude-Aimee Leblanc posted a 63 in the first round and cruised to a big win. Two days later it was the Ontario Women's Amateur and another towering golfer, University of Texas' new freshman Nicole Vandermade who took that crown.

 

Today was the conclusion of the CN Canadian Women's Tour event at the Camelot Golf & Country Club and despite a field full of pros it was the amateurs who shone the brightest. Kent State Senior Kirby Dreher followed up a sparkling 67 with a slightly messier 2nd round but managed a one stroke victory.
