FT5 ..... I Mix set up?

Is anyone playing this combo of tech
Thinking of taking a look at the FT5 ..Imix 9.5 Tour set up (retail) I looked at the head with a shaft in it today and it sat pure as you like, I also noticed that its not as black a finish to the head as the stock FT5.

Anyone had one or a combo of these in play and what was your results? Is it as good as a standard set up (retail Tour). They are more expensive but someone who struggles to settle on a shaft and find a square head from callaway this might work out well?

FT9 or whatever is not out untill next year and cant wait that long..........God I,d of had another 3 drivers before then............. :russian_roulette:

( Mods sorry if this is wrong thread)

I have a regular FT-5 i-mix with NV65 and VS Proto 60 shafts. The color of the i-mix head is a dark metallic gray. I upgraded from an FT-3/V2-65. I can't tell any diffference in terms of how the shaft is connected. The i-mix connector system is solid and stable. I don't have a non-imix FT-5 to compare, but I can tell you that the FT-5 i-mix combo that I have is about 10 grams heavier (static weight) than my ft-3 combo. I've heard that the i-mix head is heavier, but don't know for sure.

I love my FT-5 btw. A good bit more forgiving than the FT-3 with better feel.

FWIW, since Callaway reduced the i-mix prices, you can get several different i-mix head/shaft combos for the same $299 price as the standard model. The head itself is now $199, and there are several shafts to choose from right at $100, including the standard shaft in the ft-5 tour, the Fuji e360. I bought mine from Shop.Callaway.com. Great service.

I just bought one about a month ago, and love it. I dont know if there is a difference between the FT5 tour and the FT5 Tour Imix, except for the shafts, but I never liked callaway before, and am truly bombing this thing, and accurate! Maybe (and I am sure this is it, i'm not a fool all the drivers are amazing) I like the head shape an size, its easy for me to put solid swings on this majority of the time.

If the above poster is correct, this is a smart idea as well. Getting one of these with a shaft you like now, and being able to put it in the FT9 when it comes out. (If they do the IMIX thing again of course).

Shafts are way to expensive, but its a great driver head and I would think the shafts will keep going on sale?

I would give it a whirl if I were you, but I am of course biased since I have that setup. For me the real advantage has been to try out the shafts/heads on the course. I have been "fitted" before and after a while it didn't translate on the course. Being able to try things out real world is very nice. However, you have to decide on the cheaper route or more up front cost route. You can either buy one head/one shaft and try it, then switch if you don't like it or buy 2-4 shafts at once and then whittle them down until you get one you like. I went the all at once route but then again I don't have the luxury of having a callaway shop nearby. I am glad I did however as I would have probably chose differently. For example my x-con feels great and I hit it the farthest. However, a couple times per round I hit a ball off the map. My WB feels not quite as good (still nice) but those off the map shots are in play. I only figured that out after a few rounds. So the one was great at first, then not so much and the other was not so good at first but now it is #1. I also switch during the round (once per 18 at most) which is great for trying but only do that on a practice round. I don't think it follows the rules. I just got my other head the FT-I and this weekend for the first nine holes it was push, push, push. Changed the shaft and insta-hook! Hilarious. Have to try a couple more in that one.
