I was just at my local clubfitter's shop today getting fitted for a new driver, and while I was there I was looking at all the Scratch stuff. He's got an account and sells lots of their irons and wedges. I am thinking of new wedges too, so I ended up taking a JLM TNC 56* to demo tomorrow on course. Your wedge setup is exactly what my fitter was recommending for me, TNC and EGG, although I'm likely to go with some kind of 53/58 combo instead of 56/60.

 

After three years with my Wishon 550c's I have the itch for new irons too, and every time I see a set from Scratch I can't get them out of my head. Your blades look soooo good. The ones I looked at today at the shop were awesome. I may just end up with a full set of Scratch irons and wedges by next spring. I can honestly say that I've never seen clubs that both look and feel so good.

Woe is me - I tend to over-analyze not just how my clubs play, but how they look... I just love the simplicity in the design - from the single "S" stamping to the font used for the number stampings... it's so simple and pleasing to my eye.

what kind of lead edge grind do you have on those irons? is that one of the standard grinds, or is that something special?

Not 100% certain, for I purchased these used. The "aggressively killed leading edge" makes my guess the Driver/Slider grind.

The Rocket Tours are holding up quite well, actually. I got the skinny sticks used and they're on/off the most... Started this season with them at about 9.5/10 condition and now I'd say they're 9+/10 condition.

 

The fairway and driver Rocket Tours were pretty much new and still look new. Hardly any wear...

 

With that said, I am hoping for some Jan Craigs for Christmas!

The 3 iron is just how I remember a 3 iron in middle school, high school, and my early college years... BUTTER!

 

I've over-analyzed 3 iron vs. hybrid. I can flush both and mishit both... and the 3 iron is a more consistant distance for me and just feels so much better on contact.

When I played blades (MP33s, which look very similar to your scratches) I hated my 3 iron. It was probably more from lack of playing than from a poorly made golf club, but I just never used it.
