in Miura heads - lifetime DG user

I'm buying a demo KBS Tour shaft as I've been looking for something to replace the DG shafts I've used forever. The DG shafts have been decent - nothing spectacular and nothing horrible. I like how they balance but I don't like how jolting they can be for misshits.

• Here's my info: 6'2" 150 lbs. of fury
• Currently playing DG S300 SL in Mizuno MP-60 - have used S300 and X100 SL
• 105-115mph swing speed - 85% swing = around 108mph for the driver...
• As for tempo, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being ultra smooth and 10 being ultra-aggressive, I'm probably around a 7. I'm definitely a hitter.
• I'd say a perfectly struck 7 iron is just under 170 during summer. I haven't really been able to gauge my yardages for the last two or so months due to the cold.
• I don't really mind how high I hit the ball, I just don't want wind to affect distance control - I think the DGs are excellent shafts for the wind.
  

The shafts would be going into Miura lefty cavities at +2/3" overlength (which I believe are heavier and have shorter bore depths than most other iron manufacturers). I've been thinking soft-stepped 6.5.

Miura heads are heavier than average by 5-8 grams. That coupled with the extra length you are adding will make the shafts play weaker. If you swing the driver between 105 and 115 you would fit into an X straight in although those speeds should translate to more than just under 170 with your 7 iron. Perhaps you go after the driver but smooth the Irons? If you are the guy that I spoke to earlier tonight who is coming in to my Shop in Manhattan tomorrow (to buy this shaft from me), I will let you hit my Miuras with Black Smoke 6.5s softsteped once at 1/2 inch over Miura Standard as I am a Lefty too(or at least play golf that way).

Miura, Epon and Vega you can order specific head weights for desired length. Kb 6.5 frequ out to 7.0 with 6 iron being37.5 inches so they should play alittle softer with the added length. I would hit one soft stepped and one strait in to see your spin rate and ball flight difference.

You can order Miuras with specific head weights but they come from Japan and take 4-6 weeks. I believe the previous poster has a set of heads already waiting for shafts. In addtion, KBTs will swingweight out light (C9ish) at 37.5 6 iron with anything less than Miura Standard.

 

As far as KBT X flex Frequing out to 7.0, that is only BUTT stiffness. KBTs have a much softer tip than say A Project X so 6.5s play to 6.5. People really need to be careful when relying on BUTT Stiffness as a measure of Flex. You really must profile the whole Shaft in order to see how it will play.
