Or (even easier), just make certain sounds louder or softer. That is how, when listening to announcers at a football game filled with 100,000 screaming fans, they are easier to understand. The fan 'noise' is turned down very low compared to what it is in real life...

@m d g - Similar to my response above, are you saying that the sounds are genuinely coming from the strike itself and the ones that sound super weird are simply a result of the sound engineers messing up? In other words, do you think it's ever the case that a ball strike sound is completely fabricated? Thanks!

Just to clarify, I'm only talking about the "live" feed, not highlight videos posted after the fact. Are you saying every ball strike we hear on TV is coming from the club, but it's just a matter of bad "enhancements"? Thanks!

personally i wouldnt be shocked if sometimes the source of a sound is from somewhere other than the swing being shown however i dont think they have pre recorded a perfect swing that they then play on the live feed in case of emergency.

I understand. I admit at first glance it does seem unlikely that fabricated sounds are being added in the delay window. On the other hand I feel like there's an abundance of evidence that something is going on. Then you have instances where the player backs off last second in their downswing but you still hear the contact (DeChambeau, Watson, and an LPGA player are the ones I'm aware of). I've heard some say it's just a case of the wrong mic being queued up, but when you consider everything that would have to align for this to be true, it's literally unbelievable. Anyway, thanks for the input!

Why does the sound of the club hitting the ball happen BEFORE it actually hits the ball, though? Light travels 874,635 times faster than sound so the club should hit the ball and THEN you should hear the sound. So what am I missing?

@NewDayve You're not missing anything, it's pretty obvious that at least a good portion of the sounds are dubbed into the broadcast. Even when the sounds are timed correctly it just doesn't match reality. Anyone who has been to a PGA event can attest that the sound made at impact is a deep thud and there's "swing" sound whatsoever. What I find the most perplexing is that so many people are in denial about it, almost like it's a personal attack. People fall over themselves trying to explain all the bizarre sounds.
