47, 7.5 index, low to mid 90's swingspeed, with back and shoulder problems. been playing for 35 years and want to give graphite a try. at that price its not such a gamble, particularly since i only carry 6-pw in irons. have been thinking of trying g5's, slingshot (old version) and BB06. obviously the g5's are the most expensive but quality and customization is top notch. thought about the slingshot tours but they only come in steel and i wonder it they are that much of a departure from anything else - unlike their namesake which seem to be quite different in concept.

i'm really a lousy ballstriker - fat, thin, toe (rarely heel) you name it. but luckily i can chip an putt and know how to play the game (an overlooked skill i believe)

I bought a set of the Cobra 3100's with the graphite shafts last year after hitting a bunch of different brands and shafts. I replaced my 20 year-old Ping Eye 2's with stiff steel shafts with the 3100's and love them. The lofts are a little stronger than the Eye 2's, so I have regained a little distance and the shafts cushion the impact of bad shots so that my hands don't hurt when I mishit one. I tried the 3400's and didn't like them as much as the 3100's. If I was to start all over again looking to replace my Pings, I don't know that I would do anything different. They were half the price of G2's in graphite, just as easy to hit, and, are lighter in the bag when I walk and carry my clubs than my old steel shafts. Try them out and buy what feels best for you and your game.

the 3400 is geared towards beginner and the people who can't get the ball up in the air. The trajectory of the 3400 is High compare to 3100 which is Mid trajectory. As far as the price goes, i don't know why it is more than the 3100. But if i were you go with the 3100. 3400 has a very huge sweetspot. go to www.cobragolf.com and find out more. Good Luck

I play the 3100'S in steel and they are very easy to hit well. As far as GI irons go, the topline and sole are quite a bit thinner than many current offerings (Slingshots, Launchers, Big Bertha's, 3400's). Cobra has always priced their equipment lower than most OEM's, from woods to irons to wedges, I definitely do not believe this means a lower quality product however. At the time I bought mine I also gave the BB 2004 irons serious consideration (played several demo rounds with them) and they were very solid, easy to hit irons as well. I chose the 3100's because they were slightly longer for me, just as easy to hit well, $150 less (steel versions), the BB's felt like I was playing an entire set of hybrids and I seemed to be able to manipulate the thinner sole of the 3100's better, and the stock steel Nippons in the 3100's felt much better than the stock uniflex shaft's on the BB's. The 3100's stock steel shaft is made by Nippon and this shaft feels much smoother and seems to have more vibration dampening than either Dynamic Gold (even with sensicore) and Rifle flighted shafts that I've played, you may want to at least test the steel version because I felt that the balance of the steel shafted version was better than the graphite (completely subjective, I know). SirShanksAlot has a very good review of both the 3100 and the BB 2004 at SirShanksAlot.com, he rates both sticks quite highly, I found his reviews helpful. He also recommends choosing the 3100 over the 3400 Cobra's based on his customer feedback should you decide to buy the Cobra's. I never hit the 3400's because the aesthetics didn't appeal to me and after hitting the 3100's I was pretty much sold on them. Considering your index I would guess I don't need to mention this but be sure to get fitted for lie angle because the 3100's and BB's come standard with very upright lie angles. Good luck
