Epon AF-501s and 208KGX wedges

My first range session........

Hi Folks,

I don't post very often, mostly because I haven't had a whole lot to contribute.
However, I took delivery of my new Epons this week (per signature) and I just got home from my first range session with them.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!

Playing tomorrow and I have not been this excited about playing golf for years.

I've been playing MP-32's and various Mizuno wedges for the last 5 years and loved them. I've been looking around for a while for irons that would offer a little more forgiveness and consistency and first impressions are that the AF-501s deliver, with absolutely no sacrifice of feel. This is the first set that I have had built with KBS Tours. Again, WOW!!! I've been an S300 guy for years, but now I know what I've been missing.

The wedges, and KBS wedge shafts, are amazing too. Fooled around with them on the the short range and chipping green for about an hour and there is not much that can't be done with these. On full shots, they were tearing half the cover of the S#%tty range balls!!!. I hit a few old B330's and ProV's down range to see how they would react. The cover wasn't ripping off them, but the you could hear the balls fizzing through the air.

I also have the 50 and 56 208KGX wedges in copper finish. They are soft and do create tons of spin.

First outing with the new Epons was great. Played to my handicap (5). Not knowing my yardages with the new clubs had me miss-clubbing a few times and left a few chips short due to more spin than I have been used to.

 

I was expecting a noticeable differance in feel between the longer irons (4 to 6) that have the spring steel face and undercut cavity and the short irons, but there really is not a perceptable change.

 

 

Overall, I could not be happier with these clubs and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone. Definately worth the extra $$$.

 

The only problem I have is having to wait another 5 days before I can get back on the course.

Congrats on a sweet set of irons and wedges. Dial those wedges in and they will save you strokes.

Those are great irons -- probably one of the ultimate in player's forgiving clubs with a full cavity in 7-PW, and some notch weighting for forgiveness in 3-6i. Nice size from heel to toe - long enough for forgiveness and the topline is thin enough and fits into the design of the iron. Looks great to the eye - a very well balanced design.

 

The wedges spin and are playable from various lies. I've got some 701's coming and the wedges in 50 and 56.

Nicely spotted on the putter.

I've always liked the look of "answer" style putters, but my stroke has always been more suited to face balanced putters.

This one does have the slightest amount of toe hang, but no more than 5-10 degrees. And it's a Miura, so you know it's going to feel good!

I've had it in the bag for 4 years and it's going to be there for many more!
