I'm going to give it a whirl - for $25 bucks I figure WTH - its for a good cause anyway.

He is definitley a beast, I'm in Little Rock, AR and he used to hit at the range down the road from my work. And to watch him hit it was amazing. They have a piece of plywood that he drove through on display, crazy amazing.

I plat a Geek DCT with a 757 in it. I can get it 350+ but have no idea where its going and I've had a few get way out there 370+. I only play around swinging like this on the range and in scrambles - not on the course or under pressure for that matter.

 

Before everyone starts ragging on me - I need to get extremely lucky, I know, but still, you gotta get lucky if your gonna win ten Gs.

 

Edit - I know these guys do this for a living and train every day for this. I hope i get the "luck of the Irish, only I'm not Irish, so you figure it out."

Hell for the 10K it would worth the try, but he will have no problem getting 400 unless he is having a bad day. The tree line at the range is right at 300, he would fly the tops of the trees at times.

Ha - it didn't say that the driver had to be conforming!!!

 

You have to qualify against peers to get a chance to face him - the you face him on the first hole - 500 YD par 5 dead straight.

Does it have to be in the fairway? I would just try to smooth one out there my usual 240 and hope he misses.

I think it has to be in the grid/fairway. It would be nice if he went first so the guy trying to beat him knows what he has to do, but I doubt that will be the case.

If you pop one 350+ in the grid, I would think you would have a legit shot at beating him. Sure he can hit it longer, but those guys are not always on, and they miss the grid plently. If you hit a good one, and he needs to hit a big one to beat it, he could EASILY miss the grid.

Nobody won the $10,000. Dustin Merrill was the one who got to hit against not only the Beats but Joe Haduch and one other guy who were the "Boone Creek Long Drive Team". They qualified 4 guys for a shootout to see who would face the LD team. I won the qualifying at 340 followed by Dustin at 320, then John McGowan at 315, and I forget the other guys name at 313. Then we all hit against each other to detirmine who got to hit against Fister. Dustin won that qualifyer with 335 and then lost 336 to 337 in the actual Beat the Beast competition. The order was Haduch, Woods(I think that was his name), Dustin then Fister. The dude who's name I can't remeber hit it 337 and Dustin couldn't beat it so Fister didn't even need to hit. He hit about 10 drives anyway until he hit one good and it went 340.

 

Not very good conditions to hit the long ball in. At the start of the qualifying there were puddles all over the fairway, and the wind was about 15 mph at us and from the left. I'm prettty frustrated looking back on it because the $10,000 was there for the taking. I'll just have to use it for motivation for next time.
