Cally BB 454 Speeder 652 - Bridgestone 460 YS 6 Plus

I am currently using a Bridgestone J33R 460cc 10.5* with a GD YS 6 + in regular flex and I seem to be getting very good results with it, not a fast swinger, SS between 85 to 91 mph. don't laugh, I'm 47. I hit it with a nice mid to high trajectory straight or a slight draw when swinging well, about 250 yards max when I nail one, average probably around 225 yards.

Still searching for a more forgiving and longer driver/shaft combo so I just bought a Callaway 454 10* with a Speeder 652 in regular flex on Ebay because I'm curious about this shaft, I had a lot of success with a Cally 454 10* with an NVS 65-R flex and should have never sold it.

Will this play similar to the current Bridgestone set up that I have or will it be completely wrongor right for me? I'm not sure how to describe my swing, I know I have a slow SS but seem to hit the ball aggressively, my average drives are about 225 yards and my longest are about 250 yards.

Thanks for any input and comments.

I've not tried the Bridgestone so I can't comment on it. However, I did own a 454/652 combo and it was a cannon. I've also had a 454/nv combo and to me the 652 was definitely better. The 652 felt much smoother and had a tighter dispersion. I tend to go at it pretty hard sometimes and the 652 definitely held up better in those situations.

I think the regular should be good for you-my ss is about 105 and I played stiff.

I do play the NVS in my 3 wood and really like it. I tend to hit fairly low so the NVS helps give me the height I need. The 652 also give a fairly high flight but I never had any ballooning problems with it. In fact, I liked the 652 so much that I now play it in an FT-3. Nice shaft.

Using those pesky "rules of thumb"- you're about maxed out.

For smash factor (2.5 times your SS is your theoretical carry distance):

90 mph SS X 2.5 = 225 yards of carry- so it's the roll you might need to maximize to stretch out your drives. If you are already carrying around 225- that's about it with a 90 mph SS.
