Drive it further by fixing you clubs loft

I have always struggled with my driver. I've wondered if I'd be better off just playing a 5 iron or so. My drives averaged around 220. After I read an article about driver loft I got a new driver and now drive more like 240-250 and the ball has around 50 yards more carry in the air. It's been amazing. Here is my article on it if you are interested and think it may help you.

Your blog overlooks angle of attack and shaft dynamics.

I have a 90 to 95 mph swing speed with a positive angle of attack with my driver. I was carrying 220 with a 10.5* tour burner stock stiff and was losing distance due to high trajectory, no roll, and ballooning. I switched to an R9 9.5* with Fubuki 63 stiff and I am now carrying 230 to 240 and getting 10 to 15 yards roll. The trajectory is a little lower and has no ballooning. So, I went from 225 to 230 total distance to 240-250 total distance by going in the opposited direction of what your swing speed only model would suggest. The distances are measured using GPS on my home course.

I definitely agree that a properly fit driver can easily gain you yardage, I just think there is more to choosing your driver than loft and swing speed.

If I do this 11,548 more times, I will be having fun. - Zippy the Pinhead

I was the same. My SS is 92 mph. I was using a Cleaveland XL hibore 10.5 R flex driver and was only getting about 230 yard drives ball was going to high with no roll. Switched to an Adams A3OS R flex 9.5 it gave me about 10 more yards but I wanted more. So I tried the Adams A3 8.5 Stiff flex and man I'm driving the ball consistantly 250 to 260 and have got my longest drives ever 280 and they were not down hill drives. lol

My swing speed is 115-120 and I was not fitted correctly by any number of so called clubfitters(most of them are conmen). I took matters into my own hands, did the research and went to a clubmaker with the specs I concluded I needed.
Result: I am using a 48" shaft with a 7 degree head and I added 30 yards to my driving distance. I now carry the ball 275 and routinely hit drives 300 or better.
Avoid the conmen, take matters into your own hands.

You can't be serious. A competent fitter with a launch monitor will be far more accurate than you can be with "research"

Agreed. Believe I've tried the research, and it isn't gonna tell you launch angle or any of that other important stuff, so guessing your appropriate loft is just an estimate from what your shots tend to look like.
