What is your experiences
Hello all,
I have alway's been a go to the golf store or mall kinda guy, to make golf purchases, and know what
i'm getting and getting it when i lay out the cash. I know a few people that swear by Ebay, and buy
religously, and tell me i need to do it for better deals. So i would like to know what your guy's experiances
have been with it? I have been on Ebay, and scoped the deals on clubs, clothes, shoes, tools and so on and
have to addmit that there are some killer deals there, but it seems there are so many scams online, that Ebay
would not be exempt of this.

A little help would be greatly appreceated, i see alot of posts from people on here about Ebay and thought
this would be a good place to get info, good bad indiffernt what ever.

Thanks in advance Gmonster :) HIT'EM LONG AND STRAIT

My biggest pet peeve is when people use USPS for their shipping provider and only request that you use PAYPAL. A transaction like this can take between 7-10 working days, for everything to clear and ship.

Stay away from Scotty Cameron tour putters on eBay. Most that are cheaply priced are fakes.

Look at the # and % of successful transactions that person has been involved with, if they have 75% effectiveness and 100 transactions, stay away. Ideally you'd like between 100%-98%, with 400-1000 transactions. Be weary of 1 transaction guys. These could be either hit or miss.

make sure the seller only deals in one category such as golf and not cosmetics, truck parts, and golf. Too much diversification here.

In general, stay away from tour stuff. Guys who sell stuff like this are looking for people like you, to ripp you off.

Read the feedback! It is really benefecial if you want to avoid getting burned. Also be sure to read the auction thoroughly and pay attention to details. S&H charges/details are often overlooked by first time buyers so make sure you understand that before you pull the trigger. Avoid sellers with little to no feedback or worse yet bad feedback. Good luck and hope you find some steals!

I buy and sell on eBay and unless you know the seller, I always suggest paying with PayPal because it protects the buyer. If the seller only accepts a money order or cashier's check, ask about them on this forum. With all the knowledge here, someone is bound to know them. I disagree with the statement about using USPS for shipping and a transaction taking 7-10 days using PayPal only. I use USPS and UPS and I always ship the day after, sometimes the same day, I receive payment. I ship USPS Priority Mail a lot which takes 2-3 days. If you look long enough, you will always find a better deal. I hate to say it, but I believe that the off course golf shop is a sinking ship unless you have low margins and do some custom fitting. I used to work at one and couldn't believe how many people would demo a club and then tell you right to your face that they were going home to purchase one on eBay for a lot less. The manager of the store would just get upset instead of matching or beating the price. He thought it would open up a can of worms. I thought the cash flow would be better than letting inventory sit. Anyways, I've gotten off the subject. Looking at feedback and the number of transactions and all of the other posted information is good stuff----Dan

If you are in no hurry to make a buy and you can wait 5-7 days, then they usually are the better way to go. In my experiences BUY IT NOW has always been the better way to go because I want the merchandise and not have to wait and see if I won. Now days most people can get the merchandise the second before the bidding closes. It's a science.

BUY IT NOW is the way to go.
