Best MacGregor irons since 2000. Comparing "player" iron sets.

Calling all MacGregor fans. Pick one (or add another) iron set and explain why you think it's the best "player" iron set produced by Mac since around 2000.

1. PMB (Added to the list)
2. PCB Tour
3. VIP Tourney V-foil 1025M, C, or CM
4. V-foil M675 blades
5. MacTec M685
6. Pro-M, Pro-C, or Pro-CM

I love this company. IMHO, they have produced some of the best irons in golf. Curious to see which one you think was their best and why.

Can't wait to hear from some people who have played a few of those sets.
A friend of mine absolutely loved his 1025Cs. I would love to pick up a 1025 CM set.

I used the 675s, and my main complaint was the poor quality milling. I returned them before really putting them through the paces due to this. Too bad, because they were on closeout for $199.

Ive very recently bought and played the PMB and some MT Pro CM's. The PMB's are just classics, though a little more offset than im used to so i would vote MT Pro CM's....they are without a doubt some of the best irons i have ever ever played. I currently play with some Miura's but it was a VERY tough decision to drop the MT Pro's...i couldnt afford to really buy the miuras without selling the MT Pros but i just cant bring myself to sell them, so im not!

I absolutely loved the 1025M's and found them to be a very forgiving and easy-to-hit blade. I played them regularly up until last summer. I found the 675's to be very easy to hit as well, but the quasi-hybird long irons were inconsistent distance-wise. The 675 wedges were among my favorites of all time. PCB Tours were a great club, but I never like the look of a cavity back for some strange reason. My business partners loved the 685's but I never liked the stock shaft (Rifle Lite) or the look.

i have two sets of v foil 1025 cm's and they are great.. one with 6.0 rifle shafts and the other with the softer 5.0 shafts. the long irons are fairley easy to hit and all the clubs feel like butter as long you hit the sweetspot and use a good quality ball. the faces do mark up pretty easy though. the set with the 5.0 shafts are still in the wrapper for use in the future. picked them up for peanuts . also use v foil wedges in 56 and 60. one of my favourite sets from my collection.

I would say the 1025ms were the best, followed closely by the Pro C/M. However, the 1025s would be the runaway with a better sole, quick solve with the custom grind program...

The PMB's are the best "Player's Iron" Macgregor has produced since 2000 IMO. I'm on my third set and sadly they are close to retirement. I have owned the PCB Tour and they were good, but just not as good as the PMB's.

Are you talking about the circular milling in the face of the M675? Was it inconsistent? How did the M675's play overall?

How do the 1025M compare to the Pro-M?

I played through two sets of Jack Nicklaus Muirfields and loved every minute of it, but they are not on the list. However, I do have a set of the Miura forged PCB Tours, with two other sets in waiting. Great feeling and performing clubs, but many people would not like the offset on them.

JNP Irons (the SG model) were dynamite. I think Jack even won with them on the senior tour (might have been late 80's....)

Let's see if we can start up this thread again! I have played the 1025C's and they were really nice but due to the offset I get a big draw with them I have also used my mates m685's I would of brought them off him but they were in bad condition i'm currently playing the Vip '67' Remakes (1990) but need something more forgiving so i'm gonna give the M675's a go!

1025m is the best iron set I have ever played. Been playing them for about 8 years. Still no better feeling in golf for me than flushing a 3 iron with these bad boys.
