New Mexcico State Golf Management Program

Hey guys just wondering if anyone on here could give me details on the program at NMSU? I am very interested in the program and any help or advice at all would be great.

Played a tourney against some of these guys on the weekend. All guys are there to gamble is all it seems. None of them were great golfers but there were a couple that played decent. One guy behind me quit during his 2nd round due to poor play.

hah, ya i went to NMSU and was enrolled in the PGM. It really is all about gambling in the program! in your first "marketing" class pat gavin, the head of the program teaches the freshmen how to add scores and count skins. Literally! It was alot of fun when i was there. ALOT of gambling, ALOT of partying and tons of golf. Life was good. but as time went on, i decided to change majors to accounting. the pgm "marketing" was too fluffy for me... however i never got into my upper division marketing classes so i cannot speak to that. i loved nmsu golf course.. its basically run by the pgm program, and its a brand new facility. sonoma ranch is another great course alittle bit from there.. great rates too... Just be aware.. there are not too many opportunities in golf.. and the pay sucks unless your in the top 5 percentile... I would recommend enrolling at nmsu (great school great professors, shity reputation) and kick-a** with your grades and live it up with the golf and transfer the hell out... thats what i did... but i have to say, now i have an accounting degree from a great business school in boston and im still looking for jobs! so you never know, i think you will have alot of fun, but beware of the profession in general.. unless pay is not an issue!

This is one of the colleges my daughter is considering attending. She is a junior in high school and the coaches (Paul Brilliant / Jackie Booth) seem to be very forthcoming and the type that you would entrust your daughter to. What about the town of Las Cruces? Would you send your daughter there? Never been there but I've heard some bad things. Never been there but we'll be doing an unofficial visit in a couple months. Like the facilities, how close to campus are they? Thanks!
