Chipsh00ter Intro and WITB

Recommended Posts

Wsup guys, finally making my first post, been roaming around the forums for a couple months now. 26 YO picked up the game last summer, made the mistake of trying to teach self and really messed things up. Took a few lessons, trying to build a new swing ground up and have made major improvements lately, actually keep score now that I hit the ball somewhat decent every time lol. Best round so far is 86 through 18, and best through 9 is 40 (on it that day). Pretty sure I will be improving on that 86 number considering the course conditions are pretty crappy here in Memphis TN this time of year. Im a fourth year optometry student and I will be going back home to LA/San Diego for externships and also one rotation in Miami, so weather isnt going to be much of a problem. I will try and get a swing up on here soon for some critiquing, seems a lot of you really know the game. Two questions:

Whats the real diff between ProV1X and NTX Tour? Cant justify paying 50 a dozen. I bought a few used Prov1x 332s, going to try them out but I think I want to start playing new balls, something about confidence. I have been playing used One Tours and Blacks, I liked them a lot but a bit too heavy it seems.

Also, I have been hitting my callaway 3 hybrid REALLY well, pretty much use it every time I am 170+ out because I cant hit my long irons worth s***. I have seen some improvement with my 6 iron but 4 and 5 still suck. Considering putting two more hybrids in the bag to replace long irons. My question is, will that come with time? Also dont want to look like a senior with a bunch of hybrids, no offense wink.gif.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT*** forgot to add WITB info

Nice clubs, and an 86 is great after 1 year...as far as hybrids go, play as many as you need to get the ball around the course. I play 2, and I've never been called out on that. If you aren't even hitting your 3/4/5 irons, then it's a waste to keep them in the bag, replace them with something you can use. Hitting the lower irons well requires good ballstriking and swing speed. Most golfers, myself included, just don't have the swing speed to hit the 3i/4i well enough to create a gap between the clubs. Hybrids offer a way to utilize those lower lofts...

As far as the balls go, can't help you, never bought ProV1s, only played the ones I've found on the course, which aren't as good as new ones of course. I play Bridgestone e6, which for $25, are amazingly soft. Anyways, good luck!

Welcome to the board first off! Very nice set of sticks you have, you will learn a lot here as I def. have. I could be wrong but as far as the prov and nxt I think the pro v's are smaller spec wise, 1.58 to 1.55?? Now as for real deal playing differences I can't say, but for the price I definately think the nxt's are worth a try.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the compression is different for distance

how do you like that tm carry/staff bag? out of all the bags out there that one is the nicest looking . it does look pretty heavy though. is it ok to walk with or is it more of a hybrid bag?

Yupp, only reason I got it was cause it looked nice honestly haha. I rarely walk but when I do, it's definitely an issue because the strap that goes through your left arm is pretty tight, even on the longest setting. I dont want to sound like a p***y but it makes you really bend your wrists to get your arm in and out, which can be painful, especially toward the end of the round. Weight isnt toooo bad, but a bit on the heavy side though, cant really say cuz ive only owned two bags and the other one was a piece of s***.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
