PGA Tour Rules About Profanity?

Are there any?

Are there rules prohibiting on-course use of profanity by players during PGA Tour events? If so, what are they? Do any of the majors have there own additional rules on that subject?

someone else will know better than me, but from what i've gathered players get fined for conduct (which includes swearing) however the fines are not publicized. So essentially yes to your question

I do not believe there are any.

Fines from the tour is meaningless, they should add shots to their scores.

So do you suggest they mike every player and record their cursing whether on camera or not, or only penalize players who are the most watched players because they are the best. Just curious.

Great story from the '60s. Seems Tommy Bolt-it was always Tommy Bolt back then- was confronted by a Tour official about swearing during his round. The Tour official said he was going to fine Tommy $100. Tommy said OK and handed him $200. The Tour official asked Tommy why did you give me $200. ? And Tommy said cause I ain't f**kin' finished yet.

Profanity is part of golf. Like it or not. Golf is about controlling emotion as much as it is about controlling your ball.
The Gentleman's game thing is over blown. Gentleman can and do curse. Losing control of your emotions never helps you on the golf course. No need to penalize someone for profanity, they are hurting themselves by losing emotional control. When I watch golf on TV I do not want to watch robots. I enjoy positive and negative emotional outburst equally. "Tiger Woods you suck" I say bravo sir. Well played.

If profanity had any impact upon the flight of a golf ball, then I would be off about +2.

P.S. Many years ago fighter ace/governor/Medal of Honor recipient Joe Foss started using his own first name as a curse word in order to stop swearing in public. Tiger does seem to be trying to do the same thing. It isn't a quick solution but I can testify it pretty much works ... most of the time.
