how to properly use the shot tracker

ive messed around with the shot tracker on the viewti golf 2010 app and i do not think im doing this properly. Ive used it three times on the same municpal 9 hole course. Its pretty short and basic course but its cheap.

i dont think im properly using the shot tracker because it says my avg drive is .2 and longest is 1.7. i dont know what that means hah.

I feel im incorrectly choosing whether or not its on the fairway or green as i have to choose. Unless it does it for me based on my location, im not sure.

Im also not sure what the arrows mean. left, right, up and down. im assuming left is if it goes left, but is it left off the fairway or hooked left. And same for right. and whats the up arrow? Over the fairway, that could be on the green... or does it mean over the green..

Then say i hit it in the sandtrack at the green, does that constitute hitting it to the green or fairway? and if its not in the sand but off tothe right in the grass but not on the green...did i hit it right of the green?

SOrry i hope this isnt too hard to understand but the directions on the website are very vague and my beginner knowledge doesnt help.
