Foxland is now open to limited public play. Apparently Fairvue is really struggling financially.

Might be going to Nashville next weekend. Are they letting any public play there. If so, how is the course, in general. Thanks

I just played there last Sunday and the course is Phenomial!!! Fairways are still dead but they have plenty of grass on them. Greens are perfect!! We played the ball down all day and that is hard to do around here this time of year because of some very bare lies that you can get. One of my favorite courses of all time. Great layout but definitely not easy. Glad to see this wonderful track not get caught up in the trash going on at Fairvue!

i played it at the end of last year. it is always in great shape and easily best course ive played.

It was $64 on the weekends. Range and tax included on that price. No, not hard at all to get on for me so far. I don't think everyone is aware that its open again and I think most won't pay that to play anywhere. I think its definitely worth that price but of course will always wish it was a little cheaper.

Oppie, thanks for the info. A friend called and got the same price quote. That is way too high for dormat fairways. Maybe that price when everything is green. How would you compare Foxland to Greystone or The General?

Yeah but you have to remember that they are Zoysia which is a lot different than bermuda even when dormant. There is lots of grass on the fairways. I will be playing it this weekend because its the best course around. Foxland and Greystone are neck and neck as far as layout and as far as my favorites to play. I am not sure about what kind of shape Greystone is in. I talked to the pro there last weekend and he told me that everything was in good shape. General's Retreat, I assume that is the one you are talking about, well it really doesn't compare to the other 2 in my opinion. It's still a good course but for the money that its going to cost to play it then I would pick the other 2 everytime.

Oppie and Golfgoob. I've renewed my membership there under the new ownership. If you guys ever want to play on Saturday mornings, let me know. We have a regular 8-12 guys that block tee times, and as WRX members would love to save you the $5-15 dollars to play as a guest. We usually book our tee times on Wednesday, so I'd need to know if you guys want to play by Wednesday before the weekend. Unfortunately, I'm out the next 2 Saturdays with conflicts, but could still add you all to our list and tell you who to contact from our group.

Most of our guys play the White tees, 35-50ish age group, 1 hcp to 20 hcp's, depending on who is playing. You can always PM me if you want to play a weekday. Thought I'd offer that up because the public rate is high, and a few bucks savings is always good.

Wow, appreciate the invite. I definitely will have to take you up on that offer. Absolutely love that course and have actually played it the past 3 weekends. Lol. It's the best layout and in the best shape of anything that I have seen. Definitely wish the price was slightly lower.

I've only been in the Nashville area since late '09, and haven't played a ton of area courses. I joined Foxland soon after moving here. Others in the area that I like, mid-season, are Hermitage's President's Reserve, The Legacy, and Gaylord Springs. I enjoy playing Gaylord Springs because it is similar to Foxland in some respects. It gives me a good change when I want to play a links style course.

Mid-season, Foxland is the best in my opinion. I will share that the course isn't in the best condition right now. The period in which we were shutdown and up for sale meant it wasn't being maintained in the same degree. My hope is that it will return to the form that I'm used to. Don't get me wrong, not bad right now. But I can compare it to its better days, and I expect more.

Is the course open? Someone told me that their phone number isn't working. I haven't tried it. Hopefully he just had the wrong number for the course.
