Mizuno paint fill color?

All the current Mizunos that I see have black paint fill..

 

Are these older? Also are the rifle shaft stickers in blue older? The ones that I have are gold..

Don't know about the shaft bands, but the "Mizuno" in blue looks right to me. It's in blue on my MP-32s. The 23s can't be more than about two years old.

I recently (two months ago) bought some MP-32's and they were the Mizuno Blue color the same tint as was on a set of MP-33's that I have that are 4 years old. I found that the color of blue used was hard to duplicate when you were repainting a head

I custom-ordered a set of MX-23's this year from Mizuno USA headquarters in Norcross, GA. (I went through GolfSmith.)

 

My paintfill is black.

 

However, I have seen both blue and black paintfill interchangably on other Mizuno irons and I don't know why they switch back and forth or the reasoning for doing so.

To my eye sometimes the Mizuno blue paintfill can actually look black (in certain lights) - and it is hard to match but a navy blue is pretty close. As far as I am aware the Rifle shaft bands in blue and silver are new with the older bands being gold and black. I base this on seeing a new set of TM RAC TP MBs with Rifle shafts and the blue and silver shaft bands, and of course checking out the RP website.

Paintfill in the 23's is definitely a midnight blue color that actually looks black in some light conditions. Rifle shaft bands switched from gold to blue within the last year or so, it's not just a proprietary Mizuno shaft band.

I'll chime in on this too. I have a set of MP-32 that I bought shortly after they first came out (it must be a little more than a year now). After reading this, I took at glance at them and they looked like black paintfill. Today, I was loading something else in the back of my SUV and I noticed that they flashed blue. On closer examination, if you're in good light, it seems like they look black when you look at them face on and definitely blue at an angle. I don't think this is any sort of trick paint, I imagine it has to do with shadows from the lettering.

 

Perhaps these "black" ones aren't really black?

They changed from black to blue. Not exactly sure when but I think it corresponded with the release of the MP-32's.

 

I've got an old set of 33's and a newer set of 37's and there is a noticable difference. Although the blue can look black in some lights they're not the same.

 

As drawmerchant said, blue and silver is the new new Rifle shaftband colour (like the Project X). This is very recent but apparantly it's to get away from the gold and black that True Temper is known for.

 

Basically your set has been sitting in a warehouse for a while but apart from colour, all the characteristics are the same.

They're all blue. They've always been blue...back to the days of the 14s even.
