Does this make any logical sense?

Teeing height makes all the difference...

I've been playing for 30+ years, have always played standard retail stiff flex shafts, always hit it relatively low so always used a 9.5 or 10.5* driver... I've never been a big hitter, more of a swinger, more of a fairways and greens player, but have always been a pretty decent player (handicap ranging from +1 to 5 over the past 10 years).

So, I recently traded for a driver that I knew I wasn't going to be able to handle, but thought I'd hit a few times then trade it for something else... it's a r510 Tour DF, 8.5* with a Speeder Tour Spec. X shaft... The first couple times out I was erratic as heck with it, I hit it in places I've never been right down the pipe, then would turn around and hit it 40 yards right, or pull it up the left side.... so last night I went out to walk 9 holes, the first hole is tight and short... 335 yards, normal play is a long iron/hybrid off the tee still just have 100 yards left, but I wanted to hit this driver one last time before putting it on the B/S/T, so I teed it low trying to just hit a controlled cut.... nailed it right up the left side with a cut... next tee, I said lets try this again, teed it low, same result... I repeated this on every tee and had the same result everytime...

lower loft than normal, stiffer shaft, tee it low and hit it at a great trajectory, in the short grass everytime? Was it a fluke or does that in some way make since?

the fact that teeing it up lower translated to better control does not surprise me. I would be more surprised that an 8.5 degree with an x flex translated to more control.
