TourSpec Golf Question

I need opinions on a failed TSG transaction, please help!

I have a problem with a transaction that went bad with Tour Spec Golf and need some input on who was in the wrong. Here's the scenario:

I saw a posting on Tour Spec Golf's website (from Chris at TSG himself) in their For Sale Forum for a Gauge Design Japan Terra Putter. It was on sale for $99 which included shipping. Here's some pictures:






I think WOW, this is a beautiful putter and sounds like a great deal but I have some questions about it. Nowhere in the listing does it show the length or weight of the putter nor does their website have any information about this specific model so I decide to PM him some questions. I also replied in the thread itself that I sent him a PM. I was the only one who replied in the thread. The questions were sent in at approximately 5pm CDT. Also, there were no instructions on how to pay for the putter in the thread.

These were my questions:

I'm very interested in this putter. Can you give me some spec's....length & weight would be appreciated. Also, does the $99.00 shipped price include shipping to Texas? And last one, do you take paypal?

I didn't get a reply until 1am CDT (I was asleep) and he replied:

yes thats shipped to texas,

its 34" 350g head weight very nice soft feel.

my paypal is [email protected]

in the memo area write what item it is.

So I get up this morning (8am CDT) and send him another PM telling him I want to buy the club and try to finalize the details. He replies 8 minutes later (PM) and says it's sold already. :yahoo:

I send 2 PM's back to him trying to understand what I did wrong and he hasn't replied in over 2 hours.

I know I'm never going to see this putter but is this a normal practice when dealing with Tour Spec Golf?

I'm really upset but wanted to get some WRX'ers input to see if I was in the wrong before I give Chris and TSG a call and a piece of mind.

Any input would be appreciated.

No one was in the wrong in this situation. Obviously someone else put their money down before you. It happens almost daily on every BST on the web. First one with the paypal gets the goods.

 

I can understand why you would be upset for missing out on a nice putter, but in no way is Chris in the wrong.

 

Think about this situation in a brick and mortar store... You see a product you like but have some questions. You walk away to find a salesperson. When you find the sales person you walk him/her back to where you found the product only to find that it is gone. Someone else had picked it up and bought it. You lose.

 

Do you think Chris should have turned down the other concrete sale in hopes that your question materializes into a purhcase? You know how many questions sellers get asked that never materialize into sales... tons!

 

It happens no one was in the wrong... you just got beat to the punch... sorry.

I agree, it sounds like someone beat you to the purchase. Consider TourSpecGolf as a 24x7 vendor and while you were asleep someone else wasn't. Also, do not assume that Chris @ TSG lives in your time zone, because he doesn't and will respond to messages and emails at a different time than you typically work.....

Consider this...he is in a completely different time zone than you. He's based out of Japan. Money talks also. If you are asking questions, you are just a tire kicker. If you really wanted it, you would've paid him the minute you got his paypal address.

He took 7 hours to answer my PM (reply was at 1am and I was asleep) which was the first time he sent me his paypal address. Also, there were no payment instructions in his thread.

 

I can't buy something when I don't know how to pay for it!

Chris has the store part of his web site where you can get stuff if it's

in stock or orderable.

 

If it's in his BST under his name, well as everyone is saying ...the first to placethe money in his account gets the club... it happens on ebay all the time with buy it nows... if your late in picking up the auction and sending messages with queries (esp with timezone issues)... you're going to miss out so I don't think he done anything unethical.

 

You might want to change the title of this thread as it violates the site rules here and the majority rightly so don't believe Chris has been dodgy in this instance

 

My own personal opinion is you should have gone ahead and bought the putter with the questions still open... you'd have had no problems selling this on and considering it included shipping it was a damn good deal.

 

You live and learn, we're all always losing out, missing the boat and I doubt everybody is wised up to the intricacies of web trades...well maybe for those guys with pots of money that don't really bother about making the odd mistake with the gain of getting a top deal or something rare or exotic.

 

Sorry you lost out, it was a good deal on a nice putter :yahoo:

Everyone keeps saying you should have paid for the item before you sent in any questions but nobody seems to understand I didn't have the payment instructions until 7 hours after I sent in my intial PM as there were no instructions on how to pay for the item in the thread.
