Trilogy at Vistancia

I have a group of buddies coming into town next weekend and we are scheduling our tee times for Saturday and Suday. I've heard some great things about Trilogy at Vistancia and wanted to see if anyone has played it recently to see what kind of shape it is in. We are playing at Vista Verde (can't get enough of that track!!!) on Saturday and thinking aobut playing Vistancia on Sunday.

the other courses we are considering are Raven at Verrado (however, i heard they JUST opened after punching the greens...) and Golf Club of Estrella. Any feedback/advice/comments would be appreciated...

Per medicaptains last report trilogy is not worth playing right now. GC of estrella is a fantastic track some very good golf holes out there.

I do like the layout of Vistancia, but for the last few years.....it just isnt worth the pain.......

I played there again for the last time a few weeks ago....ridiculous conditions compared to other courses out here....there are much better tracks to go play.

I for one, would stay closer to Vista Verde (one of my favorites!)....save the fuel money and play Troon North, TPC Scottsdale Champions is in fantastic shape and very reasonably priced too. Legend Trail is an AWESOME track when conditions are good and is also close to Vista Verde, although I have not played there in over a month so I cannot attest to the conditions.

Verrado and Estrella are equals in my mind....Verrado is a fun layout with one stupid hole...Estrella has some of the hardest closing holes in the valley....both are great values

Doesnt look like I am giving you much info, except I would NOT suggest Vistancia from a Customer Service, conditions, drive time and overall experience just isnt up to par.

Thanks for all the feedback! Looks like we will be playing Verrado.....I have always wanted to play, but never ventured that far out west.

However, when i called the folks at Vistancia to ask them about the current conditiong i was told it was fantastic shape and the greens are doing great? I hope that's the case but i will find ot soon because my father-in-law is playing out there on Saturday.....

So i reluctantly joined my father in law for a round yesterday at Trilogy (the $29 special was too hard to pass up). With that said, the course was in pretty good condition. The fairways were in decent sape and had a signs of burnout in some areas and were bald in other areas. The greens were in very good shape for this time of year. In the clubhouse i was told that they just hired a new greenskeeper and apparently he's doing a good job. I was pretty upset with a couple items.....

1. The sand traps. Very inconsistent and had tons of rocks in them. I was in the greenside bunker on #2 and had to deal with hardpan under my ball!?!?!

2. Customer Service...awful....we played a 5 hour round (teed of at 6:40...) not once did i see a Ranger on the course....

3. The tee box on #14. There are two trees (i think acacia's) that completely obstruct the right side of the tee box. I was complaining about this apprent design flaw as i stepped up to the tee box. I like to work fade these days (i'm left handed, so right to left). I hit what felt like a solid shot and i smacked one of the trees. After our round i asked the cart attendant if they have recieved any complaints about the trees on the tee box on #14. He indicated the trees have been there for about 6 months and he gets a few complaints a day. Hopefully, i'm not crying over spilled milk here...but the placement of thos trees left a very sour taste in my mouth as i completed my round.

all in all, i was pleasantly surprised with the course, but the sand traps NEED some attention.....

  • 4 months later...

I recently bought a house in my dad's name (since you have to be 55+ to live there) on Trilogy at Vistancia up by the green on hole 15 on a forclosure auction and got a great deal for an amazing house but the golf course isn't that good compared to how many other great golf courses are out there that you can get on no problem. The only reason why I play the course is because I just have to go out to the garage and get in my golf cart and I'm there. I wouldn't waste a golf weekend with your buddies on this course, too many other good ones. Depending on the time of year and time of day this course can be very very cheap though.
