I just added these to my collection. I can't find any information on the model. It was probably something Macgregor sold at Sears, but it looks pretty sweet to me.

The clubs haven't arrived yet, but I'll try to take some pix when they get here.

I found some information on them in an old golfwrx thread from about a year ago. Per this thread, MacGregor used to offer custom stampings on a few basic grinds (e.g. VIP, Diamondback). The Laurel Wreath 67 was one of those custom stampings.

There is a "buy it now" set of 67s on ebay now for $800!

This might be a dumb question, but does 67 represent a year or a score?

not the actual 67 VIPs.. those are commemorative.

I used to collect 67's.. I still have 2 sets.. anything under 5I is damn near impossible to hit.

Correct...these are not the graphics jack had on his clubs in 1967. I don't know for sure, but I think they are commemorative of either his 1967 US Open win or of the VIP design that he hit in 1967.

It's sad they dont have the ferrules frrom the VIP's from the 60's. Short ferrules on a blade just don't look right to me. Still beautiful irons though, I love the clean look of the graphics.

I have a set of these and play them every round - absolutely superb irons!!
I also wanted to find out information on these irons. Although I have no completely secure evidence I am confident that these irons were part of the 1980 custom range offered. A number of 'classic' heads were available - refer to the 2nd edition Kaplan book under the 1980 entries and you will find the custom page. This blade head was called 'muscle back' based on the 67' VIP blade design. Hence I think that the 67' stamping is commerative for the design and the success Nicklaus had at the US open that year. Many different stamps were available from MacGregor to choose from to put on blades. I treat my 67's as if they were VIP's playing every round Nicklaus style with the addition of a 945w driver and a remake of the Bristol 600 putter - all Nicklaused out - sadly I don't have the scores to match!!!
