Titleist 775 CM

Looking to purchae a set of 775 CM. Just wanted to hear your thoughts regarding performance & feel. Also any other recommendations RAC LT2, Ping I5, x-18? Anyone demo the following & compare. Thanks

Just an FYI that you may be confusing some people. Are you talking about the 735.CM or are you talking about the newer 775.CB? From your post it sounds like the 775.CB's. Good luck with your topic.

If you’re talking about the 775 CBs—I have the 3-UW. Up to the time I purchased them, I had played RAC LTs for almost 4 years. That’s a long time for me since I’m an equipment hound.

I tried several other sets, but nothing could match the LTs for playability and feel, until I demo’d the 775s. I like offset in the long irons and none in the scoring clubs. These are the perfect transition. They are AT LEAST a club longer than the LTs (they have stronger lofts and lighter shafts) and feel an order of magnitude better. I am finally playing irons with confidence again.

However, if I were you, I’d demo a set first…for what it’s worth, I swing the driver 104, hit the ball high with a baby fade.

I got a set of 775's right after they came out. I love them! I played Callaway X-12's for about 5 years, and needed a change. They feel great, the forged feel is so different to me, coming from the X-12's. I would recommend them to anyone, looking for something b/t an all out game improvement club, and a players club. For what is worth, I'm an 11 handicap.

I got them and love em'. They came with the NSPro 100's in them and I couldn't find the club face. I took them to my club fitter and he put them on the frequency machine. 5 of the shafts were "ladies" flex. UUGH. He installed soft stepped DG S300 in them and now I kill these sticks!! They feel great, and are a club longer as stated above. I could never hit a 4 Iron until now. They are great clubs with the right shaft in them. FYI...The lie angles were all messed up when they came from the factory also. My fitter bent them all exept two to get them right. I was VERY dissapointed in Titleist's quality control. SHAMEFUL for the price they are charging for these clubs!!!

Perfect combo set imo...exactly how i'd build a set of irons:

oversize head long irons with more offset and perimeter weighting that transtions to blade size scoring clubs with much less offset and basically no weighting.

The forged stainless are nicer feeling than cast (not carbon but still nice) and they are pretty much idiot sticks. Hard to not hit these well.

However the lofts are really jacked up (strong lofted 45* PW) so i play on bending each club 1* weak and play the 4-GW as a weak lofted set of 3-W.

Gap wedge comes with at 50* so i plan to bend it to 49* and play it as my wedge as it plays with my 54*/58* wedges perfect. I really like my set and couldn't be happier.

I have a set of 775.cb's with PX 6.5 ordered via Discount Dans (great service and price).

Great size/forgivness type combo set. Short irons don't look bulky and long irons fly long, high and straight. Offset in longer irons is very noticeable but easy to ignore when you can consistently hit them well. I wouldn't call these a true forging but they still feel great and give the appropriate feedback on sweet spot shots and mishits. The lofts are jacked, but I just tell myself the 4-GW is really 3-PW. The consistent distances I get for each club is what I like best.

These sticks knocked a set of Callaway X-18 Pro Series with Dynamic Gold SL X-100's out of the bag. I liked the size and forgiveness of the X-18 PS. I felt I wasn't getting consistent distances and distance gaps out of the set which was confirmed when I took the clubs to certified clubmaker who measured the lofts and the results were that they were off a little. Callaway service was great, sent me a Fedex Sticker to ship the clubs back to them and they fixed the lofts. My results after return were satisfactory with the 4-PW but I had no distance gap between the 3 and 4 iron (as measured by my launch monitor and by my GPS on course). I believe my choice of a light shaft was the cause of my inconsistency (tempo) and I wanted to go back to a heavier shaft which is why I ordered the Titleists.
