Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly on the X-24 Hots....

First the good news:

They are game improvement irons with the twist of having some playability. I am able to shape shots with them fairly easily and predictably.
They are LONG. The stronger lofts on these irons really make a difference. To the tune of one full club more distance. It takes a little time getting them dialed in but once you do they are amazing.
They provide some good feedback. I can honestly tell where the ball hits the face and this kind of feedback on GI irons is hard to find.
They are fairly affordable since they are now over a year old.
Now the bad:

The black matt finish is really low quality. One bucket of balls and it looks well worn. I have owned mine since March and the faces and soles are pure silver in color now.
Some people might not like the stronger lofts that really become pronounced in the longer irons. (those who cannot hit long irons won't like these)
Fairly affordable is still about $400 to 500 in good shape used.
And finally the ugly:

There is definitely a different weighted feel to these irons. It takes some serious getting used to and might mean some swing adjustments. With these irons swinging easier is harder.
That's it. While I haven't been on this forum for long I have been playing golf since 1985 and have played a ton of different sets of irons. I started with some Brownings. From there I moved up to TaylorMade. Then there was my first set of Titleist DCi irons. In 2003 I got fitted and purchased Cobra SSi irons with graphite shafts. (a great set but not workable at all) Last year I bought a set of X-20 irons in order to get something more playable. When I noted some lost distance I opted to buy the X-24's because of the similarity in the lofts when compared to the old Cobras. Of all of the irons I have played these X-24's are by far the best. But you MUST let them do the work or you will regret it. The weight seems to cause a really strong pull if you overswing. While I am a little disappointed in the fact that they did not hold that original beautiful finish it hasn't affected the play at all and I cannot see the battle scars when addressing the ball so, as the saying goes, it is all good.

Would I recommend these irons?
Absolutely!

To who?
Anyone seeking improvement and control with distance and accuracy. (Probably just about anyone) Sure the Razr irons are an improvement over these. But they are also double the price right now!

Follow-up to my original review.

I still have these irons in my bag. With them my handicap has dropped from just under 10 to a solid 6. I shot under par for the first time ever with them this summer and have shot several rounds at level par or just barely over. The rounds that kept my handicap up were not because of bad iron play - they were because of bad course management. (and some wayward drives)

They now have even more profound battle scars and the black matte finish is all but gone. I have tested two other sets of irons trying to find something better and these always ended up right back in. (Mizuno MP-58 and TM TP MC). Both of the other sets were awesome and were fitted for me. But I lacked confidence in them and had streaky results.

I am on my third set of grips. As I said they definitely have some battle scars now. But these irons are incredible. While I am almost certain to go testing other iron sets because that's what we do (those who love this game) but it will really take something special to push these out of my bag.
