I need a Carry/Stand bag

that is good for the subway

So, living in NYC, there are many times when i'll need to take subways and trains and cabs to golf courses. I'm also a fervent walker. This means that I need a relatively light weight stand bag that has enough room for all the materials one must lug with him on said subways and trains and cabs.

Most importantly, it needs to have one pocket big enough to EASILY accommodate my size 11 golf shoes along with all the other standard bells, whistles, and pockets.

Do any of you out there have a recommendation for a bag that you've used for similar purposes. I know most bags have a pocket that is theoretically big enough for shoes, but I'd like one that is proven to be more than big enough. Thanks in advance.

For reference, I've been checking out the new Ogio Grom, Adidas Strike AG, Taylormade Pure Lite, and the Titleist Lightweight.

I can't comment on the size of the large pocket (for your shoes) but I am thinking about going with the Sun Mountain Four 5 this season for multiple reasons so you might want to check that one out as well.

yeah, seems like there is a bit of consensus about that bag being one of the most well-rounded in a world of not very well-rounded carry bags.

even though it's not really what i was looking for at all, i've fallen in love with the Adidas Ag Tour Stand bag in white. it's a little heavy and the pockets don't seem to be very deep (certainly not deep enough for shoes) but i just can't get it out of my head.

i really like my ping 4 under bag. Too often people get too big of a bag because they think tons more pockets is better, then when they are on the course they dont use half the pockets or any of the extra crap they threw in the bag, lol.

I live in NYC and all my buddies carry PING stand bags. They carry their golf shoes, one in each side pocket. I've noticed that even with the shoes in the pockets, there is still enough room for balls, cans of beer, etc.

There is no better carry bag out there than the Ping hoofer. It has ample room to fit shoes in the large side pocket and the bag works flawlessly. The ping bag also fits better in a cart than any of the other carry bags. Since there is no external mechanism to operate the legs the bag is cleaner looking and less clumsy as well. I work at a golf club and trust me...I have seen them all. I have had my current hoofer since '03 and except for a little wear from clubs going in and out the rest of the bag looks as good as the day I got it.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I've given the Ping bags a look (since I play ISI's and all) but just am not a fan of them stylistically. guess i'll give them another shot.
