Hello from Indy

Finally decided to join GolfWRX after a lot of post stalking. This seems to be one of the best resources for golf related info. I just started playing golf last year. I took 4-5 lessons once I picked up my clubs and finished 2010 with a best of 108 and an average score around 115. Hoping to break 100 in 2011. My buddy who is a single digit handicap pushed me to take the lessons - glad I did.

 

I am bagging:

Ping G15 12* Driver

Ping G15 5-PW Irons

Ping G15 23* Hybrid

some Tline PGA putter I found in my dads garage

 

Driving, Hybrids, Irons I am pretty comfortable with. Driving 275-310 yds and can keep the 140+ yds irons fairly straight.

 

Putter and Wedges are my downfall so far (3-4 putting everything). Hoping to improve on that this year.

Another Indy member here. It's a great golf town once you get into the spring-fall months.

Played my first two rounds of the year on Friday and Saturday.

Being last year I picked a bad year to start for nice courses as most of them were having a lot of issues with the sun. These are the courses I've played so far. I really havent ventured much out of the south side of Indy yet.

3 Favorites so far
Twin Bridges (Danville, IN) - had great fairways and greens all year last year despite the heat
Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) - IU's fairways got burnt up really bad, but I really like the wooded layout and narrow fairways. They ended up tearing up a re-seeding a hand full of the holes.
Killbuck (Anderson, IN) - little far from indy, but their fairways and greens were really nice last year

Smock
Southern Dunes
Winding River
Eagle Creek


Oh and I forgot. GO IU!!!!

Give Saddlebrook a shot. It's probably the best value i've found in the city of Indianapolis. I actually played Southern Dunes yesterday for the first time. It's not too bad of a course, but I wasn't a big of a fan of the scenery. Probably won't be playing it too many more times.

Ya, I'm not quite a big fan of the scenery there either. Feels like you are walking around a neighborhood with a golf bag at some points.

I will check Saddlebrook out once the weather holds. I spent a lot of time on the range last year. This year I think I am just going to stick to courses.
