A True Gentleman

I have been very fortunate at my young age to deal with some very important people in the game of golf and I feel like I would be doing this entire board an injustice if I did not talk about dealing with Mr. Tom Slighter from Slighter Golf.

We all know that he makes wonderful custom putters but he does much more than that, when you are working with Tom on a putter you are not only a club designer, you are a friend. I know that I am beginning to wax poetically here and sound like a walking billboard but that man kindness is just amazing. I have not gotten a chance yet to take my putter out but it is truely gorgeous!

I personally guarantee you that if you work with Tom on a putter you will be saying the same glowing things that I am saying and I am very confident that everyone who has ever worked with Tom will say the same thing. If you ever wanted the Tour player treatment without being on Tour or spending $1,000 this is your chance.

I have to include the very kind letter that he sent out with my putter and I know that these go to everyone and from talking to other folks I know he remembers every person he works with on a putter and everything about that putter!

Anecdote:

I don't have a Slighter putter, but one of my golf buddies has a few. The other day, Tom called him out of the blue just to see how the putters were working out for him. What a gentleman.

With service and care like that, you better believe that my next putter will be a Slighter!

That's the thing, the personlized service you get is amazing. Tom is not just somebody you buy a putter from he becomes a friend. I am already talking to him about my next project with him.

I agree 100%. I sent a putter to Tom to conduct and experiement. He wasnt sure he could accomodate, but was very engaged in understanding my needs and making suggestions.

He kept me informed as he worked on my putter and it turned out beautifully. I have shown the putter to many of my playing partners and they all comment on the quality of the work.

I would, and do, recommend him to all who ask about my putter.

BACK ON TOPIC.......................

I have a friend that got a Slighter. I was very impressed with the detail and professionalism with the whole process. Each step of the way Tom goes to the extreme to please the customer and make a perfect final product.

I'm not sure why I haven't purchased one yet...

Apparently Tom has already sold all the first run Portland heads and is taking orders on run #2.

I'm sure it's been answered elsewhere, but I don't feel like searching. So please someone indulge me.

Is the Slighter putter a welded neck or one-piece? It looks from the back to be a weld and a very nice and clean one at that.

From all the Slighters I have seen posted, the worse thing I can say (and it's just opinion anyway) is the branding/logos could use some design expertise.

The putter itself looks really good. Really good. Impressive work.

I admit I am not a big fan of the logo myself but I have a Slighter hat sitting next to me on my desk and it's starting to grow on me. Of course I have never cared for the Scotty Cameron crown and when I tell people that you would think I kicked their dog or something.

You can get a great look at the neck process in the Slighter Lefty Proto thread that was just posted, I found it interesting to see the work in progress. I wish I had the talent to do something like that.
