V285 in 906 and V2Hybrid 100 in 585
I just wanted to give my feedback after going to the range and playing 18 holes with the 585 and 906 today. I was one of those people who complained that the 905T was closed face but even I will admit that I think these two clubs are atleast 1* open. At address these clubs set up perfectly. The 906 was alot smaller than I was expecting which is a good thing, I had the 904F and the 906 is alot smaller. It also is very shallow faced which makes hitting off the ground very easy. Hitting off the tee was a little difficult but I just started hitting it off the ground from the tee. The ballflight is very high but doesnt balloon. As far as distance goes, this thing is LONG. I had the Nike T60 13* before this and I am longer with the 906F2 and it is 15*.

The 585.H is the first utility hybrid I have ever hit. Like I said earlier, it sets up open in my opinion and is very easy to hit. I got the 19* and was hitting it consitently 225 from the fairway. The ballflight is very high and flat. I was able to hit it low but its normal shot is very high. I love the V2 100 gram hybrid shaft in this thing and would recommend going with this shaft instead of the NV Hybrid 85(there is no upcharge for the V2 by the way).

I have stiff shafts in both of these and would recommend trying stiff before going with Xstiff. They play very stiff and I have the Xstiff in the Diamana for the 905R and I believe the V2’s player stiffer. My swing speed is about 110 mph.

All in all these clubs are great. My bag is finally complete(for the moment). I may buy the Detour evetually if I can ever make myself get rid of my studio stainless. The V2's are great, I love my Diamana in the 905R and was thinking about getting a Diamana 93 and 103 for the 906 and 585 but after looking at the ballflight today I see no reason to spend the $600 for these shafts. I hope my writing makes sense, I know it looks kind of jumbled but I'm in a hurry and was trying to give a good review for everyone considering these clubs.

Cheers :help:

You say you hit it 225.How does that fit in between your 3 wood and 3 iron for you,and roughly how far do you hit those ?

Also is the 585 really as open and fade-biased as im lead to believe.I dont really need something severely "anti-left" - but neutral would do just fine.

That sounds great. About the shafts, where did you get it? On the Titleist website and the golfsmith website the 585H only came with the stock titleist of the aldila. Where did you get your's?

I ordered it from a driving range in town.

The 906 "is very shallow faced" "much smaller than the 904"? I think the head is exactly the same size and is actually a little deeper than the 904. The actuall hitting surface on the 906 is larger than the 904 because there is more face towards the sole of the club. they have extended the face from heel to toe on the leading edge. There are a few fairway woods that have deeper faces but the 906 should never be considered shallow let alone very shallow. I had the 904 and currently play the r7 TP 3 wood. The 906 is a little smaller heel to toe but is deeper than the r7 tp. My 906 has the pro95 shaft....hitting it on the course for the first time tonight. The 585 with the 104gram V2 is on the way.

Yep, the face is actually just a touch deeper on the 906 than on the 904, and I think the trajectory is better. Mine actually appears to be a shade open if anything. Very solid, and for me the longest 3 wood I have ever tried. I have the 13* with the V2 fairway in X flex, and it is very controllable for both trajectory and direction. I think I have a keeper in this 3 wood!
